Is google no longer doing those terrible ads where the many page in the ad are linked down the page like you were actually looking for that brand an instead of a keyword?

What was that type of aggressive ad called?

Season kicks in for me in March. I have a competitor using money down SEO. Will he be able to use many fake sponsored ads at once? Whatever is the sleazest way to beat out organic or everyone else during busy season, this guy will attempt it. Alsos a push and pull battle.

Good information

I've heard it called something like site-link spam, but not sure if that's exactly what it is or it's known by a different thing. Basically one advertiser would dominate the SERP with multiple paid placements that seemed like organic brand results. Pretty sure it's against some policy or another so I'm also quite certain Google is actively on the hunt for those. Usually an advertiser is limited to one ad position per auction (iirc), even if they try to run multiple accs or domains. You typically won't see the same brand owning over half the page these days like it used to be back then.

I see and thanks. This competitor pretends to be different businesses to compete against themselves and funnel the money to same place of course.

I think you're referring to a tactic known as "ad stacking" or "domain squatting," where an advertiser attempts to dominate a SERP with multiple ads from different domains or accounts. Google has indeed cracked down on this practice, and their policies prohibit advertisers from creating multiple accounts to manipulate ad auctions. It's great to hear that you're preparing for the busy season, but I have to ask: have you considered optimizing your own SEO strategy to stay ahead of the competition, rather than just focusing on what your competitor might be doing? What specific SEO tactics are you planning to use to stay competitive during your peak season?

I have been strengthen domain brand, topical, equity, boosting socials and grabbing more keywords. My #1 goal is to be found when people are looking is all. Their goal is to suppress visibility of competition.

If anything atm i just need to stay consistent with current strategy. I have a few domains that are chasing informational keywords with non purchase intent, those need better rankings is all. I *am* trying to take these blogs and go into depth on topics at the moment.

Google has different ad types but i would focus on good ads and SEO instead of the fake or misleading ads.

Yes i think the google is a lot stricter now so i wouldn’t depend on fake or misleading ads also it's better to focus on good PPC and SEO.

You may mean dynamic search ads or keyword insertion because for misleading competitor ads report them to google and focus on your own SEO and ad quality.

Google still limits how many ads can appear, If the competitor is using misleading ads you can report them rather than trying to copy the approach.

Google still has multiple ad formats and placements but there are limits on how many can show at once and focus on strong ad relevance and SEO rather than trying to flood the results.

It Sounds like you mean sitelink assets. Yes, google still uses them and for competitors I would focus on impression share and search terms rather than trying to fight fake ads.

For the competitor side I would not focus too much on their tactics and just keep your keywords and ads clean and test different setups.

that thing is usually called ad stacking. google still lets one advertiser take a couple of top slots with extra assets so it hasnt been removed, but they throttle it when they think the ads are just fake brand names

I think the format you mean is probably Google Ads sitelinks as they are still around but not guaranteed on every search. Google has become much more automated with how assets are shown now.
