Anti-detect Browsers vs. VMs for 100+ Accounts Automation?

Hi everyone,

I am automating around 100+ accounts on social media platforms (X, Tiktok and Facebook) using Playwright, and I keep getting banned using standard Chrome.

I want to rebuild a reliable setup and I'm hesitating between two strategies:

  1. Anti-detect Browsers (GoLogin, MultiLogin, AdsPower, etc.)
  2. Virtual Machines (VMs) with multiple separate Google Chrome profiles
For those managing accounts at scale today:

  • Which approach is more stable and better at avoiding bans?
  • Are anti-detect browsers worth the subscription price, or do they still get flagged easily?
  • Is the VM approach too heavy to manage or easily detected because of shared hardware signatures?

I Think people often overestimate the impact of the tooling. A clean workflow and staying within platform limits have made a bigger difference for me than switching between different browser setups.
 
its about the overall behaviour. it needs to look like a normal person. it has to browse naturally, not keep changing ips unless the person moves to a different place. warm up the account before use. or if all else fails i use an actual phone with a real sim card and connection
 
I guess VM is overkilling i guess. You can use either stealth browser or even free option like portable firefox / chorome or even its profile.
 
from what i've seen, bans are usually caused by the automation itself, not just the browser you're using. switching browsers or setups rarely fixes the root issue for long.
my opinion, it's better to build around the platform's approved tools and workflows. it's far more stable than constantly dealing with banned accounts.
 
When such bans happen at such a level, then generally it is the automation patterns which become more noticeable rather than the choice of the browser. My suggestion would be to make your actions less uniform and maintain a high quality of accounts
 
I’m not sure if you create the TikTok accounts or just buy them. I assume you create them yourself, that’s what I do too, but the way I create them, I can’t post, I believe because I have to warm the account first, do you face the same issue, thanks

Bans are a direct result of automation. I would go with anti detect browsers, however, I would outsource the work to cheap pakistani or phillipino VAs.
 
If you keep getting banned with normal Chrome, then a VM is an even worse choice: the fingerprints have far less authenticity (at least with your normal hardware there are many real people with the same fingerprint so they cannot ban it outright) - but basically no real user uses a VM, so they can just basically ban the fingerprint outright.
 
I think is not just about the vm vs antidetect browser i think the biggest difference it was made by the automation tools you used

VM detection occurs fast becuz of the artificial WebGL signatures. antidetect browser should be used together with high-quality mobile proxies, yet Playwright scripts should be randomized as bots get banned due to unnatural activity.

Does anyone use Vision? I read that it allows you to set unique fingerprints for each country when working with different geos

yes, I even make them on my own as well. New accounts tend to be restricted initially, so I usually leave some time for them to grow and then start posting.

you create them with anti-detect browsers, right ?
 
Think that for socials antidetect are fine. Also managing VM might be a huge pain, if you use decent Proxy IP you should be fine with the antidetects.

If you’re serious about longevity, pair a good antidetect setup with clean residential proxies and varied behavior patterns
 
I would bet the playwright script is the issue. You really have to properly make it look like a proper browser being used by a human being. How do you handle movement of the mouse? Do you have plugins installed? Stealth plugins for playwright/etc??
