Why Do Some Reddit Accounts Suddenly Stop Getting Reach?

I have noticed something strange recently with a few Reddit accounts I have been testing. Some accounts were getting decent engagement and visibility for weeks, then suddenly almost every post started getting very low reach without any obvious reason. No bans, no warnings, and the posts were still following subreddit rules.

Has anyone else experienced this lately? I am wondering if Reddit quietly limits visibility for certain account behavior patterns now, even without showing any notification.

It's the silent shadowban. Your infrastructure likely cross-contaminated.

What you are experiencing is classic Reddit "Ghosting" or silent filtering. Reddit rarely hands out outright bans for behavioral patterns anymore; instead, they shadowban the account to waste the marketer's time so they don't immediately spin up new ones.

Since you mentioned you were testing a few accounts, 90% of the time this comes down to an infrastructure leak, not just what you posted. To test if you are ghosted: Open an Incognito window, do not log in, and check the New sorting on the subreddit where you posted. If your post isn't there, your environment is burned.

Sometimes accounts seem perfectly fine but the reach suddenly drops a lot without any warning. It feels like Reddit may quietly limit visibility based on posting patterns or engagement behaviour now.

Reddit does not always give warnings, but certain posting or engagement patterns can quietly reduce visibility over time. Usually, account perform better when the activity looks more natural and less repetitive.

Visibility can fluctuate heavily based on engagement quality, posting patterns, subreddit behavior signals, and community response, so consistency and natural interaction usually matter more than volume alone.

I have noticed similar behavior on some accounts too. Sometimes everything looks normal, but the reach suddenly drops for no clear reason. It honestly feels like Reddit quietly adjusts visibility based on account activity patterns, even without giving any warning or notification.

its probably tied to Reddit's internal trust and spam systems rather than an obvious ban

Reddit seems to use rolling reputation, so a few weeks of decent engagement can still be outweighed by recent weak signals like reports, removals, or bad first-hour response

I've encountered a similar situation. Reddit seems to adjust distribution based on account quality and behavior signals. It's not always a shadowban, sometimes it's just a temporary reduction in reach.

what i learned as a beginner reddit account stop getting reach due to high competition.

Maybe the account is fine and the content just isn’t getting the same response anymore. I’d compare the old posts with the recent ones first.

I’m still new to Reddit, so I’d probably look at the post itself before blaming the account. For example, if an older post had a simple question and the newer ones are more promotional, that could explain why the numbers changed.

Yes, reach can fluctuate on Reddit without an obvious warning. I’d check account age, karma, posting frequency, subreddit-specific filters, and engagement patterns first. A sudden drop doesn’t necessarily mean a hidden restriction; moderators or Reddit’s automated systems may also affect post visibility.

seen this a lot with aged accounts. if youre testing multiple accounts on same infrastructure theyre gonna pick up on the pattern fast. account age helps at first but once reddit detects similar posting behavior across ips it throttles everything. need to space out activity and keep infrastructure clean

I’ve seen this happen when a post is competing with a lot more activity than usual in the same subreddit. The account looks fine, but the post just gets lost in the feed really fast.

I’d check the subreddit activity before assuming the account is being limited.

I think the numbers can also be a little misleading sometimes A post may look like it got very low reach at first, but that doesn’t always mean it will stay that way.
I’d probably give it a little time before judging it.

Yes, this is exactly the Shadowban phenomenon or having your visibility reduced by Reddit’s automatic Spam filter. Reddit does not send any notification or warning when an account falls into this state.

I think timing can make a big difference too.

If you post when there’s already a lot happening in the subreddit, your post can get buried really quickly. I’d check that before assuming the account has a reach problem.

reddit reputation seems to depend a lot on recent activity so a few weeks of good engagement may not matter much if newer activity brings reports removals or poor early response

Could just be that the newer posts aren’t getting the same response as the older ones. Reddit can be weird sometimes
I’d compare a few old posts with the recent ones and see if anything changed.
