SEO Specialists which Backlinks Work for You in 2026?

Before buying any type, look at what else the site links to. If the same blog links to casino, crypto and pet food in one week, it's a link farm and Google most likely ignores those links anyway. Fewer outbound links and a clear topic is a good sign.

Hello everybody,

I would like to learn more about the experiences of people who have some experience in SEO work what type of backlinks do you use to achieve higher ranking positions?

Today there are so many types of backlinks to use such as guest blogging or niche edits and so forth and i find it a bit hard to figure out what is really worthwhile.

Can you share your successful experience and some advice?

Thank you in advance.
The strategy of Digital PR and scraping unlinked mentions is currently mostly effective. Grabbing niche mentions on old but popular pages were better than just making link farms.

Along with Backlinks (Niche Edits, Relevant Guest Posts, GEO Based Traffic websites) ---
Our Priority is to thoroughly check the platform's topical intent. If any improvements are needed, we optimize the website with Relevant content by adding information around the topic and covering all the related LSI terms in detail ! This helps a lot with combination of Clean Relevant links!
Thanks

Yeah, the outbound linking structure says a lot. I would check if the site is topical relevant, has linking history, and whether it has any organic traffic.

The type mattered less to me than where it sits. Guest posts and niche edits at the money site, a handful a month, and the rest of the budget goes to keeping those alive. That second part is what nobody has mentioned yet. A niche edit on a page that drops out of the index in three months is a niche edit you paid for and no longer have. So behind every placement I put automated tier 2 from a verified list, forum profiles, web 2.0s, article sites, pointed at the placement and never at my site. Crawled weekly, stays indexed, keeps passing. That combination has outperformed any single link type I have bought since 2022, and the tier 2 costs less than one guest post a month.

I’d look at relevance and placement before the backlink type itself. A contextual link from a relevant site can be far more useful than dozens of unrelated links. I’ve also found a mix of earned links, guest posts and niche-relevant placements more sustainable than relying on one method.
Yes, the relevance is more important than the classification of the links in my view. A well-placed contextual link could even be more beneficial than numerous randomly generated links if the sources are diverse.

A mix of niche relevant guest posts, niche edits, and brand mentions have worked well for competitive keywords. The key is to focus on sites with real traffic and relevant content. However, backlinks alone aren't enough. On-page SEO, content quality, and consistency are also required to achieve better rankings.

Guest posts and contextual links have worked best for me. I usually care more about where the link sits than the sites headline metrics.
Indeed, me too. Contextually relevant link placement done naturally within quality content often takes precedence over an irrelevant link from a page with high DR/DA scores. Traffic and topical relevance should take precedence over headline metrics.

For me tier 1 All the do follows from less than <50 outbound links i accept even comments if its <50 so i always set <50 obl for campaings

If specifically then articles , forums , blogs , wikis , social bookmarks and with such niches video platforms for description etc. those are simply can automate / build manually if have time as those are much natural

The best backlinks are editorial links that are relevant and authoritative, earned through great content, digital PR and real industry relationships.

Even as i am learning how to use SEO for my website i have found that guest posts and niche edits are beneficial quality is more important than quantity when it comes to building backlinks on my website.

I’d focus on relevant, quality backlinks rather than chasing a specific type. Guest posts, niche-relevant placements, and genuine editorial mentions can all work, but relevance and the quality of the linking site matter more than just DA/DR.

Let us look at what still works:

a) Local news sites guest posting

b) Parsite posting for which you would have to research along the line of a user journey path.

c) Niche based relevant sites which help with topical relevance

d) Authority guest posting for brand real estate. Link not important.

It really depends on the niche and the sites link profile personally i have been more focused on relevant links that come from good content both guest posting and niche edits could be effective but i would base my decision on relevance and the overall link profile and not the type of link.

Niche edits on existing indexed content with organic traffic are delivering much better ROI right now than fresh guest posts. Coupling topical relevance with pages that already have established crawl frequency ensures faster page-level authority transfer.

I wouldn’t get too hung up on the specific type of backlink. I’ve had better results focusing on whether the site is relevant.

My advice would be to stop trying to label each one, eg guest blog/niche edit etc, and instead just concentrate on whether your link is embedded in a block of relevant text. It doesn't need to have any keywords in the anchor, just a sentence fragment will do, but make sure the content it's located within is on-topic. That said, there's a specific link type that RAG really seems to favour, IYKYK
I've also found this kind of linking works, to satisfy the need for it to be contextual. A backlink coming from an entire site that is relevant is icing on the cake, but if it comes from a page or even a paragraph that is topically consistent, that is sufficient. Employing this can make all those "Rachmaninoff" style urls (opportunities where you can add d0-follow links with a contextual paragraph to a high-metric profile page) additionally useful. We already know those domains are useful for link diversity or boosting RD, so using them to help rank minor kws this way can improve the efficiency of one's link-building overall.

I usually focus on relevant guest posts and niche edits, while making sure the sites have real traffic and relevance
Same here; I would always pick relevancy and traffic over DR/DA. A contextual link on a site that actually receives visitors usually makes more sense than piling up DR links.

Agree with the "stop labelling and look at the context" part, that is how I look at it too. just a small question on the RAG. when you say it favours a certain link type, do you mean actual links, or more like brand mentions / citations on those pages? have you seen it in your own tests? would be curious to hear more if you are open to sharing.
