SEO seems to be shifting pretty fast lately.

We all know traditional SEO is still important such as backlinks, topical authority, technical SEO, content, etc.

But AI Search / GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) seems to be getting a lot more attention.

Instead of only asking:

“How do I rank #1 on Google?”
people are now asking:

“How do I get my brand or website mentioned in ChatGPT, Google AI Mode, Gemini, Perplexity and other AI search results?”

A few areas I’m seeing more discussion around:

  • GEO / AI Search Visibility
  • Google AI Overviews & AI Mode
  • Brand mentions & entity signals
  • Reddit & community visibility
  • Topical authority / query fan-out
  • AI-assisted SEO automation
  • Digital PR for brand visibility
I'm curious what everyone here thinks.

What do you believe is the MOST hyped SEO trend right now?

Is GEO actually going to become a major service, or is it mostly a new name for things SEOs have already been doing?

And if you're running an SEO agency, are clients already asking about AI visibility?

Would love to hear some real experiences from people working on this.

GEO's definitely the most talked about shift right now, and it's more than just hype. Traditional SEO is all about ranking in a list of links to earn clicks, but AI Overviews and tools like ChatGPT and Perplexity are changing that by giving users direct answers. If your brand isn't cited in those AI summaries, you're losing visibility before the user even scrolls.

A lot of clients are actively asking about it because they're seeing shifts in their organic click through rates as AI answers take up more real estate at the top of Google.

At its core, GEO is still SEO, but the objective's evolved. Instead of just optimizing for keywords, the focus is heavily on building strong entity signals, earning mentions on highly cited platforms like YouTube or Reddit, and structuring content so AI models can easily extract and trust your answers. It's about becoming a recognizable source that the AI actually wants to reference.

geo is probably the most hyped right now, but a lot of it still comes down to strong content, clear entities, authority, and being mentioned in trusted places. clients may ask about ai visibility, but i think it’ll become an add-on to seo rather than a completely separate service.

GEO is definitely getting a lot of hype right now, but it's essentially an evolution of entity based SEO and digital PR Getting cited in AI models still relies on strong brand authority structured data and active presence on high trust community platforms.

I think GEO is a bit overhyped right now.

A lot of it is what SEOs have already been doing. good content, topical authority, brand mentions and relevant links.

AI search is definitely changing things, though. It’ll be interesting to see where it goes.

Agreed.

GEO is getting a lot of attention, but I think it works best as an extension of solid SEO rather than a replacement for it.

AI visibility will likely become another layer on top of the fundamentals.

I think GEO is getting the most attention right now, but I agree it works best alongside the SEO fundamentals. Strong topical authority, useful content, trusted mentions, and solid technical SEO still seem to be the foundation for long-term visibility

i think modern seo techniques like geo aio is making trend, because seo has evolved much more so there are many new techniques to do seo in 2026

I think the interesting part is how AI visibility is becoming an extra layer rather than replacing the SEO fundamentals. Strong topical authority, useful content, and trusted mentions still seem to matter, but now there’s another surface to optimize for.

my personal view, tbh, is that geo is just an additional thing to add on top of SEO everything else is pretty much the same.

For me, brand mentions and strong topical authority seem more important than simply chasing AI rankings.
