Has anyone noticed the quality of expired domains is becoming scarce? Does the mean the quality of SEOs has lessen greatly as well. Less people are making new site especially in the past couple years with quality link building. Maybe this is due to sites ranking atm w/o links sometimes. I know a lot of people hunt domains, asian markets are willing to pay a lot for them as well but it seems like people are not properly link building anymore.

I dont even find sites as often full of terrible PBN links or basic citations.

the value of an expired domain seems much more dependent on its history now just having a decent DR isn't enough.

Domain hunting has been prevalent for a very long time
Nothing new imo

I definitely check that value and the wayback machine. With the rise of fake backlinks running into 2.4k links and 0 history.

yeah good expired domains are hard to find now as more buyers started hunting them. clean expired domains with strong backlinks can go for very high price

Yeah the decent expired domains disappear pretty fast. Finding one with a clean history and links that actually make sense takes a lot more digging now

You don't want to buy domains where people are actually link building. You want domains that have as many natural well known sites linking to it as possible. Every good domain is getting super spammed linked to by "SEO experts" lol.

here are 2 domains i have. They both follow the same spam pattern of links that i can do feck all about but laugh at. One of them is a good named brand domain that i bought actually as a Viagra spam site, cause i liked the name. The other is an authority site based on brand name, that gets between 50-100 visits per day. And its had 1k+ before.

i think the harder part now is finding domains where the backlink profile is actually usable, not just finding domains with decent metrics

wayback + the actual referring pages usually tells you a lot more than the headline metrics

I think the scarcity is mostly down to market mechanics , not SEOs suddenly abandoning link building. Most valuable expired domains get picked up through registrar auctions or drop catching services long before they show up on a public deletion list. Successful sites also tend to stay active , get acquired or change hands privately rather than just being left to expire. So the public pool is mostly made up of recycled domains that have already been used for thin affiliate sites or have messy backlink profiles

yeah finding a good expired domain is getting harder now since more people are after them clean domains with solid backlinks can also become pretty expensive

nevertheles , the positive aspect here is that the most suitable domain are being discovered nowaday specifically those which have a great history behind. most of the available domains for sale are either too expensive or have SEO issues.

In fact, what is true is that currently, getting gud expired domains has become extremely challenging since there are vry few such domain that have good reputations and even real backlinks. the ones which do have the above-mentioned attributes get sold off quite fast wherea others may have bad reputations or are simply overvalued.

there scarce because everyone is hunting the same 3 metrics mate. i stopped buying expired for anything that matters 2 years ago. money sites go on fresh domains, and for buffers i register exact match names fresh, put real pages on them and push ser at those off a verified list << same job an expired domain used to do, 10 bucks each and no surprise history. expired ones i still grab are only support sites where i dont care if one dies. people not link building properly anymore isnt less seos, its less people willing to build the structure instead of buying a domain that already has it

I’ve noticed the same , clean expired domains with strong, relevant backlink profiles are definitely harder to find than they used to be.

I think the better domains are being picked up quickly, while many site owners are relying more on content, brand signals and organic growth instead of traditional link building.

i believe that all the easy picks are already taken, considering the fact that so many people are constantly looking for expired domains. good domains are still availablle, although u have to do ur research through the backlinks, old content nd usage of the domains in the past. many impressive domains have a shady background in reality.

lots of folks are hunting them and many sites now rank with lighter link profiles, so there’s less “link-heavy” inventory dropping.

I have been deeply involved with the expired domain market for over 10 years. I never get bored of hearing the same thing year after year "domains are getting hard to come by" - "there aren't any good domains left"! Yeah? Then why is it I am tracking 250k expiring domains every day?

People have been saying for years that it is harder than ever to find domains, I have no idea where this notion came from because I just don't see the truth in it. I can scrape a website and find domains with relevant backlinks in any niche that could be great for a PBN site or a guest post selling website (amongst other uses) or I could look at the expiring domains for the day and find domains with crazy stats just expiring.

The idea of domaining getting harder is parroted by those that struggle to get a foothold and then tell everyone that it cannot be done. It has been stated so many times that now AI bots are repeating it verbatim. It is "circular reporting". How many people saying this have been doing it for a decade+?

I've been posting some domaining vids recently and recently saw an expiring domain with 101M backlinks, I regularly see domains with 1000s of referring domains expiring. The reason a lot of sites don't show such domains is that they are usually coming from spam backlinks, the good domains tend to have far fewer backlinks.

It didn't get harder, what is good changed so you cannot rely on the same filters as 5 years ago.

Indeed. For me it is alway a casino. The spam pbn links are usual 20-30 but of recent finding sites with 2k or more just spam links. Branding is causing this issue to.
