Gents, as per title, what 2FA method is better to add on secondary facebook account, an actual SMS/phone number or Google Authenticator?

You should use an Authenticator, as it is much more convenient; you can save the setup key so you can generate a code whenever you need it.

You should choose the Authenticator app. This method is superior to SMS in every way, especially for secondary accounts

Is there any particular reason it's better to use Authenticator rather SMS specifically for SECONDARY account?
I am adding my phone number to Facebook account anyways , so why not just also add it to 2FA?

If it is just a work account, go ahead and use an authenticator app. However, if you view it as another Facebook account requiring higher security, you should use SMS verification with your phone number.

Better pure SMS. Authentication ties you to a another company provider account. Whereas the SMS, keeps it direct from facebook to your mobile.

Authenticator iss goood

for me, using actual SMS is better. anyway, authenticator is also convenient to use.

I will advice you to make use of authenticator app. because It’s simple and doesn’t rely on text messages. Also SMS is fine too if that’s easier for you. I'm using Authenticator app and I do not any issue since I started using.

i would advise you to use google authenticator app. because sometimes phone sms are make some delay. but google authenticator app is always giving you new code after every 15 sec. no need to wait for the authentication code. its easy to use.

For a secondary account I'd go authenticator and save the backup codes when you set it up. SMS 2FA is only as good as your control over that number prepaid that expires, an old SIM or a temp number means you lock yourself out later. FB can still ask you to confirm a phone at random checkpoints even with an app set up, so if the account matters keep a number on it you'll actually hold long term.

Google Authenticator is better because you don't have to link your real phone number, which keeps it safe from getting flagged if the account gets banned. Plus, it lets you handle multiple accounts in one place without needing extra phone numbers.

I personally use either or, but there's plenty that swear by authenticator app since it's not relying on phone number or mobile network to get your codes. Just make sure you keep your recovery codes somewhere safe, otherwise that'll be it's own problem.
