I’ve been analyzing TikTok growth recently and noticed that getting on the For You page seems different compared to before. Some small accounts suddenly get massive reach, while others with decent content struggle to get visibility.
Things I’m noticing:
Early engagement seems extremely important
Watch time affects reach more than likes
Consistency still matters a lot
Reposting trends sometimes works better than original ideas

I’m curious how people are approaching TikTok growth now.

Are you focusing more on content strategy or engagement signals?

In 2024, a 50% completion rate was great. In 2026, the algorithm typically requires 70%+ completion to push a video out of the "small reach" bucket.

TikTok’s “For You Page” algorithm shows videos based on viewers’ interest, watch time, and engagement (likes, comments, shares).
Coming from trending videos and hashtags
Watching videos with repeated watch time
And discovering new creators through personalized recommendations

Watch time and replays matter most now hook in first second post at peak hours for your audience replying to comments fast boosts fyp reach

in my experience what changes the most is that videos no longer have to be backed up by large accounts. as long as there is enough conttent to grab the attention of the right people nd keep them from scrolling down, things can go quite fast.

"Early engagement seems extremely important"

Yep.

When I upload any video, if it doesn't start getting views at the beginning then video dies, but videos that gains views at the beginning are getting always views, all the time.

I have noticed the same. Watch time and early engagement seem to matter a lot, so I would focus on strong hooks, keeping views watching, and posting consistently rather than chasing views alone.

I appreciate you sharing your analysis. The most important thing is trending topics; reposting can help get reach, but it's of no use in the long term with respect to monetization. In the first 10 seconds, holding the audience to keep watching is key to getting views. Engagement strategy is important, the same as content strategy.

firstly appreciation on your research. tiktok has huge users. all of them wants to stay in for you page. some time algorithm push the small creators video on for you page, for his videos ctr and audiences is watching his video full or more then half. following trends in tiktok is most important thing. if upload similar video on tiktok, then tiktok will suggested your videos to those users, who is already watching similar videos. consistency give you the chance to catch new audiences uploading videos regularly. good content can engaged with audiences easily, its give a video mor impressions to reach more users. following this system i have grown up an account.

I’d focus more on watch time and content quality since strong retention seems important.

tbh the whole works of retention and loop triggers is being dn at the moment. if a short clip is playing again un noticed the algo will just bombard the feeds.

Now tbh completion rates and shares matter most on fyp but drop killer hooks early or else traffic will just fizzles out before reaching the lander.
