Everyone says be patient but nobody says how patient. Some people judge a batch after a few weeks, others say give it a few months before deciding anything.

What is your own cut off before you write a link off as useless?

Backlinks generally takes 2-4 weeks to show effect on ranking. But one can not judge the links pack or a single link isolately.

Google also never says when it is going to reward the links. Sometimes you rank in a week and sometimes 2-3 months it takes to kick in the effects.

I just go with links that I feel worth my time and effort. And rest I let google do its job.

3 months is a fair cut off imo. Most links show some movement in 4-8 weeks, but first check the linking page is actually indexed, a link Google never crawled can't do anything. If it's indexed and nothing moved after 3 months, write it off and move on.

Judging a backlink batch after a few weeks in today's SEO environment is useless - Google's processing and recalculation passes take much longer now, especially for low/medium authority domains. If I see zero signal by month 3, I write it off and move the budget elsewhere.

If it takes a few months, the links are probably not very strong. Though there might be other factors that could influence your site's performance. But all things being equal, it takes a few weeks to start seeing the impact of links.

3 Month is a fair cutoff IMO. Most links show some movement within 4–8 weeks, but first make sure the linking page is actually indexed an uncradled link can’t help. If it’s indexed and nothing changes after three months, write it off and move on.

I usually give a link at least 3-6 months before judging whether it's delivering value. Some links take time to show results, so I focus on relevance, referral traffic and ranking changes rather than writing them off too early.

it take at least 1 months most likely 2-3 to be directly you can still get some results even before but is not a strict rule

I will usually give a link 8-10 weeks before judging it. Some links ill take time to show the real value. i will look at the indexing, impressions and traffic rather than checking the ranking alone.

I usually give it 2–3 months before I write it off. A few weeks just feels too soon, sometimes nothing really happens at first and then traffic starts picking up. I’d rather leave it there a bit longer than kill it too early

I would take a minimum of 2-3 month to let it become a gud backlink. however, some times it goes very quickly some times it does not. after it gets indexed, there isn’t anything left after that period of time, so I won’t waste my time anymore.

i do not believe that there is a strict schedule that u should follow for all types of links. imo u can wait two months to see if something changes. it is possiblle that certain links will bring results more quickly whereas other links might take longer time. additionally i would take into consideration the quality of the link rather than rejject it just after a couple of weeks.

I wouldn’t judge a link in the first few weeks. If nothing changes after 2-3 months then I’d start questioning it but it’s hard to know what one link did by itselff

You can wait for 2–3 months. Also, adding just one link and waiting for results may not give you a clear picture. But it also depends on the competition, type and number of links, and how consistently you're building them.

If you are monitoring links weekly, then there was no way that u have enough of them. Start building links and dont stop for two months.

it depends on site and type of link i've seen some links giving results within few weeks and some takes couple of months

I usually give it at least a month or two after the link gets indexed. If nothing moves after a few months I stop expecting that one link to make much difference

Don't just depend on a single link many promote guest posts, niche edits etc cause they sell them and even if it's a single high quality high DA super authority niche it has limitations no matter what... Mostly those links are overrated and take time..instead build backlinks free and build backlinks everyday after all it's almost free

3 weeks from the day the linking page is indexed, not from the day the link went up. thats the number people miss. a link on a page google hasnt crawled has a start date of never. so my cut off only means something once i checked the page is in the index, and i dont leave that to chance, 20 or 30 tier 2 links at the placement from a verified list gets it crawled in a couple of days. after that 3 weeks for movement, 6 to be sure. every link i wrote off early was one i judged before checking the index
