I noticed several spammy websites appearing in my referring domains, and I have never created links on those sites. What is the best way to protect a website from these unwanted backlinks? Do you normally ignore them, or take action against them?

Yes I ignore them. They don't even get indexed by Google and so Google don't see them. You only notice them via seo tools like ahrefs semrush or moz.

I usually ignore random spam links unless theres a clear pattern or actual impact. No point chasing every junk domain that shows up in the backlink report

Just ignore those backlinks like Google will. Spammy sites pick up every new website and start sending links to them.

You may be thinking of disavowing them but not suggested. Just leave them.

I would not worry about a few spammy backlinks if they are not causing any issues just keep an eye on them and focus on getting good quality links.

Seeing unwanted referring domains doesn’t automatically mean the site is at risk. I’d review the links for patterns, check whether there’s a manual action in Search Console, and only consider disavowal in a situation where there’s a substantial history of unnatural links or a specific reason to address them.

Ignore them. I disavowed a batch like that in 2024 and nothing changed either way. Those links are not indexed so Google does not see them, you only see them because the tools crawl everything. What is worth your time is the opposite check, whether the links you built are still indexed. That one actually moves rankings when it goes wrong.

no need of them you must just build your own quality backlinks that must be relevent to your website msu be high authority and with good traffic sites

If you did not create the backlinks yourself there usually no need to worry. Google often ignores spammy links. Only consider using the disavow tool in cases of serious link spam or a manual action.

Most websites experience something similar. You don’t need to do anything, just focus on building high-quality backlinks for your website.

Same here, actually. It’s not worth getting worked up about them if you have no proof that they have affected your traffic or ranking in any way from GSC.

I ignore spammy backlinks unless they seem manipulative or harmful in any way. I monitor them in Google Search Console and only use Google’s disavow tool when there’s a clear risk.

we usually ignore them if they’re clearly random links you didn’t build yourself. Google is generally pretty good at ignoring irrelevant spammy backlinks. then only i consider taking action if there’s a clear manual action or a large, suspicious link pattern

If you didn’t build those links, I wouldn’t worry too much. Google is generally good at ignoring spammy or unrelated backlinks. I’d focus more on your site and keep an eye on the link profile.

Yes, Avoid them because its not beneficial for your site.

The first thing I would not do is automatically respond to all the spammy backlinks.

See if there’s any problem with them on the website. Most random links shouldn’t be a problem, but if there’s proof that the pattern is harmful, then investigate further.
