Hi everyone
Why can't I open some apps while connected to WiFi ?
Whenever I connect to the school's WiFi, some apps like Snapchat and TikTok don't work, they show "no internet connection".
But YouTube, Google and some other apps still work normally.

I think the WIFI you are connected to is web data, not social data. To operate the social platform, you need to have a social data internet package.

because of this problem i think you should clean up the app data. you can try this method. when my apps are don't work properly and showing lagging, i apply this method. after that my apps are starting work properly. one last thing, the problem can be in your wifi. if your schools wifi providers is providing you web data, then you can't access in social media using that network. avoid public network for your cyber safety.

That's usually because the school Wi-Fi filters or blocks certain apps/domains. Snapchat and TikTok can be restricted while services such as Google and YouTube are still permitted

Yes, because schools have to white-list many services. TBF, maybe the app is not the problem; it's the domain filter.

Just as you suspected in your second guess, I think the problem is definitely with the school's Wi-Fi network filter, not because the app is malfunctioning

try to open the same apps on mobile data if they work there, the issue is probably with the school network.
Yes, when I turn off Wi-Fi and switch to mobile data, Snapchat and TikTok immediately run smoothly again.

Sounds like the school wifi is blocking those apps. Schools do that a lot, and the app just says "no internet" because it can't reach TikTok's servers. YouTube and Google stay open since classes need them.

It’s true that schools often put social media or entertainment apps on the blacklist to prevent students from getting distracted.

I just tried turning off Wi-Fi and switching to 4G, and TikTok and Snapchat immediately ran smoothly again. Turns out the school’s firewall system had blocked these entertainment apps. Thank you.

i had a similar issue on a restricted wifi network. some apps simply would not connect while websites worked normally. if tiktok works when u switch to mobile data i would susspect the schools network settings rather than ur phone or tiktok account.

school don't want yall distracted

This happens because the Wi-Fi filter has specific restrictions. You need to enable those settings before you can use it.

I think your school has restricted other applications, which might be affecting your studies.

recheck on playstore/appstore about the social app not responding to connect if they gotten new update to download and secure the internet usage, not applicable to all wifi users to got replica notify on social apps if not getting wrong setup in app settings.

You are using a Wi-Fi network with a filter that restricts access to certain websites; you need to disable or bypass that filter to access them. This is commonly encountered on public Wi-Fi networks.

Yes I agree school's internet mostly have limitations and blocked firewalls, so you might use your mobile data.
