how Important Is video SEO for ranking a YouTube video?

SEO can help YouTube understand your video and show it to the right people. A clear title and description are useful but good content and viewer interest also matter. So I would not rely on SEO alone.

It counts for nothing. I seen 10m+ videos that had one word title and description. They were funny videos though. Loads of examples of that. I never see the most SEO'd results at the top of youtube, i see the most viral and engaging videos.
Funny videos not bringing you warm leads to make buy from you.
All these successful influencers in b2b (most of them) using yt seo + shorts for each longform video with yt seo, they rank fast and get more views thanks to the linked shorts.

you can focus less traditional seo and more on making videos people actually want to watch.strong views clicks and watch time can help the algorithm understand that video worth showing so good content and organic engagement can go a long way
you reply me the exact thing what i wanted to know. now i am understand all the things. your reply helped me a lot.

SEO helps, especially for search-based traffic, but I don't think it's the main thing for every video.
A video can still get consistent views from recommendations if the topic, thumbnail and retention are good. I'd focus more on making people click and keep watching than obsessing over keywords.

I think that the use of video SEO is beneficial to the watch time of a video on YouTube but it is not the only factor that contributes to a videos watch time and viewership good content thumbnail title and audience retention can also play roles in a videos viewership even if it does not have the best SEO it can still gain views from people clicking on it and then being interested

For long-form videos, the thumbnail and average watch time are what matter. For Shorts, it is solely the average watch time during the first 3 seconds. Right now, YouTube places no value on anything else.

Is it possible for a video to rank and get consistent views without doing much seo? If a video is not properly optimized for seo, does that make it difficult for the video to rank or for the channel to grow? I’d also like to know what other factors or methods can help a YouTube video get ranked and reach more viewers apart from seo.
The title or keyword part for me is an entrance point then I analyses the drops in retention, rewatching and tym spends on video to figure out the reasons for limited reach.

An appealing thumbnail and content that keeps new viewers engaged are the deciding factors that help a video rank highly and explode in views.

YouTube SEO helps with discoverability but it isn’t the only factor Strong viewer retention CTR engagement topic demand and consistent quality can also help a video reach more people even with basic SEO.

clear titles and descriptions give youtube a better idea of what the video covers and can help with discovery but the content itself still matters a lot so seo alone not guarantee better rankings

Yes, you can rank without video SEO, because SEO isn't the only thing to focus on. I had a client who posted low quality videos, focused only on SEO, and still didn't rank a single video, even after posting 366 videos.

Hello Buddy, Seo helps but it’s definitely not everything on YouTube. CTR, watch time, retention, engagement, and overall viewer response can matter just as much. I’ve seen videos get good reach with basic SEO when the content keeps viewers watching.

Thanks!

It helps with search traffic, but most views usually come from browse and suggested, and those are driven by CTR and retention. A good title and thumbnail matter way more than tags. Check your traffic sources in YouTube Studio before spending time on SEO.

Always schedule videos to be released in 4+ hours, I never publish instantly, that way I get more views.
I've read on many platforms that when I schedule video release then YouTube algorithm have enough time to analyze my video and content so it will show to the right audience.
I don't know for other but for me it's working, I also use USA VPN when uploading videos.

Yes, it understands what the video is about at first. As for whether the video gets widely recommended and maintains views over the long term, that depends on viewer behavior.
Yeah, understanding the topic is just one aspect of it. Retention, views, and repeated viewership are generally what determine whether the video will continue to be promoted.

You might still achieve rankings without SEO, but your video needs to feature outstanding content, and you must be patient while waiting for results.

much appreciated on your kind information. i will follow your informative words. now i am on trying to improve my content quality for my audience. and my viewers are so nice, they engaged with my every video.

clear titles and descriptions can make it easier for youtube to understand the video and show it to the right people but the video itself still needs to be good since seo by itself cant guarantee strong rankings
