Hi BHW folks,

I’ve noticed that adding more internal links doesn’t alwys mean getting better results. For exmple, if dozens of pages keep linking to the same important URLs, each additional link adds less value once those pages alrdy well connected. adding same links evrywhre make the site structure feel repetitive rather than intentional.

Focus more on how the links distributed across site nd whether they help users and search engines discover right pages. Simply repeating same internal links across every page increase link count without necessarily improving overall structure.

imo, internal linking should strengthen the architecture, not just increase the number of links pointing at a page.

any thoughts?

that is correct. Just because there are more internal links does not necessarily mean that there is more value. in this case i would prefer to pay attention to rellevance nd context rather than linking all important pages again nd again.

the truth is that the context becomes far more crucial than the links that an individual has. I have come across a number of cases where there were many internal link but bad link structure.

link juice from the page level become weaker when you put 100 links on that page. try to limit your context link to only 5-10 per post.

I wouldn’t use fixed 5–10 link rule though. Depends on the page and its purpose. For larger pages, naturally need more links, bigger concern is whether those links are relevant and intentionally placed.

Having links that don't add value to your page only makes your site very messy. You know what your site represents and your intent. Limit your links to the most relevant so it helps search engines and visitors spot search results very easily.

adding too many internal inks into one page can make the user experience confuse and the particular page bounce rate will be high will lead to drop the visibility of the page and lose its ranking. Better give internal inks only were its needed.

You can add as many internal links as you need but not as many as you can. The context and user intent matter here.

Agree. Extra internals to a URL that already has a path do not fix Discovered-not-indexed. I would rather add one link from a hub Google actually crawls than the same footer on 200 pages.

One pretty nice hack I would suggest is that you can literally use your internal linking strategy to:
  1. increase the index rate of your website
  2. help your website rank faster
This simple hack works by you just editing top-performing pages on your website. You go to Ahrefs, put in your link, and find top-performing pages. If you want to index one of your new pages faster, link from one of these top pages that's already ranking. That's the best faster way to index your new content or your new article that you've just written for the website.Regarding whether internal linking can dilute important pages, I don't think so. I've not seen any insight or research work to prove that. I think internal linking is great and you can do as much as you can. There is no limit to the amount of internal linking that you can do. I think the most important thing is just to make sure that, on those articles, the links you are linking to or the internal linking to other internet pages of your website are actually useful and impactful to the readers

Yes indeed, when you doing deep siloing linking this will harm your indexing and seo (crawl waste) ,this to depp linking happen on websites with pillar pages too. Think about it.

Agree with this. The bigger issue I see isn't dilution, it's that sitewide links (nav, footer, sidebar) stop telling Google anything because every page has them.

What actually moves things for me is contxtual links from topically close pages, with varied anchr I usually compare which pages get the most internal links with which pages actualy make money. Those two lists rarely match, and fixing that does more than ading another 50 links.

I'd say in initially planning out your site structure, make sure your main keywords/search terms correspond to the basic issues visitors are making queries about. Then take each basic search term and research the related or associated queries under each main issue. This simple silo becomes one of say, 12-15 major keyword questions, under each of which there are 12-15 sub-questions. Prepare content for each major and minor term, then do the internal linking to the mai term, plus a few cross links if deemed related or useful. This way all the links seem relevant, and helpful to fully establishing topical authority across the niche site.

I think the context of the link matters too. Linking to a page from a relevant section can be more useful than adding links just for the sake of it. I’d focus on whether the link helps users find the next useful page and understand how the topics are connected.

Internal linking is very important. This helps user and search engine to visit your other pages.

User visited your page and for more relavent information they will click on the link that would be linked to you other page.
When Search Engine crawl your one page and get internal link to other page, it helps to explore all your other page which are linked to each other.
Indexing chance will be increased.
