With 2026 around the corner, what SEO strategies are you dropping for good?

SEO isn’t dead, just stricter. In 2026, I’m stopping mass guest posts, thin AI content, and anchor spam. Backlinks still matter, but only high-quality and relevant ones. Google clearly favors content quality and topical authority now. I’ll double down on topical clusters, content updates, and real experience-based content.

SEO is less effective than it used to be in delivering relevant traffic now, even if you do it perfectly. Thus, I don't treat it as urgently as I used to, as it's impact is less than it was, so it can't demand center stage as much any more. The balanced approach in 2026 onwards is using white hat SEO along with viral and social media methods, direct traffic methods (links on high traffic sites to get click through or referral traffic without bank shot reliance on SERP rankings), and short term/blitz black hat campaigns where you can do it.

With 2026 coming, outdated SEO tactics are being dropped for good. I'm avoiding spammy link building, keyword stuffing, and low quality content farms.
Instead, the focus is on high quality content, user experience, relevant backlinks and natrual growth.

With 2026 coming up, a lot of the old SEO tricks are being dropped. Stuff like spammy links, keyword stuffing, and low quality content just doesn't work anymore.
Now it's all about helpful content, real user experience, and natural growth - basically doing SEO the right way instead of chasing shortcuts.

In 2026, I’m dropping low-quality link building and keyword stuffing completely they just don’t move the needle anymore. I’m doubling down on high-quality, helpful content and topical authority, because real value and trust clearly worked best in 2025.

In 2025, I focused more on content quality and topical authority, and I'm planning to double down on that in 2026.

I’ll be doubling down on internal linking, structured data and user engagement metrics.

For 2026, I’m dropping outdated tactics like keyword stuffing, low-value AI content, and spammy backlinks. I’m focusing on creating helpful, human, first content, building topical authority, and using only relevant backlinks. Quality and real user value always beat quantity.

Dropping: scaled exact-match anchor guest posts. The math stopped working — placement costs kept climbing while the ranking impact per link kept shrinking, and one bad batch wipes out months of gains.

Doubling down: topical clusters + internal linking before a single external link goes out. Lowest-risk movement I've seen on new pages, and it compounds instead of decaying.

The thing that surprised me most: how fast "discovered but not indexed" became the default for fresh content while forum threads and Reddit discussions index within hours. Distribution matters as much as content now.

Question for the topical-authority crowd — is it working on fresh domains for you, or mainly aged ones?

2026 is just a few days away, and honestly, SEO doesn’t feel the same anymore.

Some things that worked before feel dead now.
Some still work, but not like they used to.

So before we enter 2026, I’m curious:
  • Which SEO strategies are you completely stopping in 2026?
  • Are backlinks still worth heavy investment?
  • Is Google paying more attention to content quality and topical authority now?
  • What’s one thing you’ll double down on next year?
Let’s keep it real and share what actually worked for you in 2025 and what failed.

Would love to hear different opinions.
Drop mass-produced, low-value content and aggressive link building as primary strategies. Double down on useful content, topical coverage, internal linking, and relevant backlinks wherever required.
Building a strong content foundation first makes every other SEO effort work better.

honestly dropping spammy PBNs, not worth it anymore. focusing more on quality content and real backlinks for 2026.
