My X account was hacked a couple of days ago but i just now found out. The hacker changed the email address.

When I try to recover it, X sends the verification code to an unknown email ending in .uk. I still have access to the original email that was on the account.

I submitted the hacked account form, but X replied saying they’re “unable to verify you as the account owner.” I submitted another request explaining that the hacker changed the email, but I never even got a confirmation email on that.

Has anyone had this happen and actually gotten their account back? Is there any way to get a manual review instead of the automated response or am I screwed?

Make sure you submit the recovery form from the exact same device, browser, and Wi-Fi network you always used. If you try to submit it from a new IP or location, their automated system flags it as suspicious and rejects it

This +1. Also OP keep in mind that X's support is shit. Keep bothering them until they give you a definite/final answer.

The only time I was close to experiencing this was when an attempt was made on my X account. Lucky for me I was active and got the login attempt and quickly took care of it. Twitter was more responsive from reports I read. X don't give you attention regarding this issues. But like someone said above, you should continue reaching out, hopefully the right support person will sort it out for you

Keep replying with proof from the original email and old device, they do manual rechecks.

Check your original email. X usually sends an email when the account email gets changed, and there might be a link to undo it.

check the original inbox for the "your email was changed" message from x, there is usually a revert link in it that works for a while. after that it is the form from your usual device and network, every few days, with the same proof each time. took a colleague of mine 5 weeks and 7 submissions, but it came back

Unfortunately, like many other companies, including X, when your account gets hacked and your email gets changed, no matter what proof you show them, they won't care. They cite security reasons, take it seriously, and it's really frustrating and annoying. They might as well put you into an automatic reply from a bot or AI.
