I’m a little confused about the headline section. How important is the headline for a new profile? Should I include specific information in the headline, or is it okay to keep it simple when starting out? For those who have experience with LinkedIn, how do you usually approach the headline when creating or setting up a new profile?

Without the headline, you will be flying blind on LinkedIn. You won't also appear in search results, you can't also receive niche specific contents and your growth will be snail speed. Do you get my drift? The headline is where you market yourself. State specifically, what you do, don't add so much details, start with your strength and keep it short(emphasis on specific)

as for the headline of a newly created profile i would make it serve more like an introduction than an advertisement.one is supposed to understand what u do just from reading it once.i try to make my headlines concrette yet clear, something like ur present job or industry or one of ur interests or what u are looking for. Ttere is no need to mention all the skills there.

Don’t worry about making it perfect. You can always change your headline as you gain more experience.
yeah, headlines can be easily tested afterwards. The most important thing is to get the first headline live.

for a new profile put the job and the place in it. "local seo for trades in leeds" got me messages within a month, "digital marketing consultant" got me nothing for a year. its the only bit people see in search and in comments

yeah you can always test different headlines later so just get the first version live and make changes based on how it performs

I think Headline matters a lot, it’s one of the first things people see and LinkedIn uses it for search

id keep it simple but mention what you do and your main skill, makes it easier for people to know what your profile is about at a glance.

The headline is literally the only thing that matters on a new profile.

When you have 0 connections and no activity, nobody is clicking your profile to read your "About" section. The headline is what the algorithm uses for search, and it's the only text visible in the comment previews.

Don't use "CEO at X" or "Looking for work". Use keywords.

Formula: [Primary Keyword] | [Specific Value] | [Target Audience]

Example: "B2B Lead Gen | Helping SaaS Founders Scale Outbound"

If it's not in your headline, you don't exist in LinkedIn search. Period.

In my opinion a gud headline is more important than using keywords to make yourself clear. If a person comes across ur page, he or she should understand what you do instantly.

Approach it similar to an ad head line test and include urs specific search terms in the title so that the algorithm can index uhh for the proper traffic.

I think it matters, but I’d probably keep it simple at the start. Just mention what you do or what you’re interested in. You can always update it later
when your profile becomes more active.

Your headline greater increases the chances you get discovered as well as give other people meaningful information on what you do professionally.
