I’ve seen a lot of discussion around different marketplaces, and eBay still comes up often when talking about making money online. Some people say it is harder now because of fees and competition, while others still report steady results with the right approach.
From what I’ve observed, eBay seems to work best for sellers who focus on a specific product category and understand pricing, sourcing, and customer expectations. It also looks like consistency and good account health matter more than trying to scale too fast.
I’d like to hear from members who are currently using eBay. Do you think it is still worth starting from scratch in 2026? What challenges do new sellers face today compared to previous years? Would you recommend eBay over other marketplaces for beginners?
Looking forward to learning from real experiences shared here.

In 2026, eBay is still worth starting if you focus on one niche, price correctly, and keep account metrics clean—scaling too fast is what gets new sellers into trouble. Competition and fees are higher than before, but it’s still more beginner-friendly than many other marketplaces. For sellers running multiple eBay accounts, using an antidetect browser can help keep accounts isolated and avoid linking risks.

I use it to sell trading cards and it's been pretty good. It's viable IMO

worth it? yes, but short term only. Or as a hustle.

I would use the money from there to then move onto your own site / consulting. Ebay long term is limited. The customers are way annoying, and it will hinder you long term, and think "price matters", when I sold stuff on my website for 4x the amount compared to ebay where I have to compete on price all the time.

eBay is also great whenever you need to liquidate your own stuff and want sell quickly and get a decent amount.

Focus on profit margin, and mid/high ticket items.

I think eBay can still work in 2026, but picking the right niche and keeping your account healthy matters a lot more than trying to scale fast.

From my experience eBay still pulls decent profit if you focus on niche products and keep your listings optimized, the AI tools and buyer trust have actually improved a lot so it's still worth the effort.

ebay is still worth it if you have a good product. the ebay fees and shipping fees have gone up and now you kind of need to use the ebay ads to be on the first page which take more percentage so as long as you do your homework before and understand all the fees and shipping cost upfront then yes.
