Hi! Fairly new to LinkedIn ads but as I understand, you need 300 matched contacts to run a targeted campaign. I've uploaded a list of 335 contacts and gotten a 90% + match rate which should put me over the threshold (335 * 0,9 =301,5), however, LinkedIn says my audience is too small to launch a campaign. Spoke to support about this and they told me some users may have privacy settings that keep them from being targeted, which could be putting me below the 300 mark. Obviously that is annoying since these settings aren't visible on my end, but what experiences to people have with this? Or does anyone know what % of users have settings like this? Ive uploaded lists of 1000 people before and that worked fine, so what would you guys say the "practical" minimum size is for uploaded lists? Would be sad to upload a list of 400 if 40% have privacy settings which would put me below 300, so how many people do you guys have as a minimum to get a list to work? Thank you!

Yeah, sadly LinkedIn's 300 rule is more like a soft floor than a guarantee. Even with 90% match, privacy settings can still block targeting. In practice, I’d aim for 500+ contacts minimum to stay safe. Most folks I know shoot for 700–800 to make sure campaigns actually launch. It’s frustrating, but better to over-deliver the list than fall short.

Yeah frustrating since it takes another day or two when adding a new list. Wanted to target execs in Uk care homes but I'll have to expand the target group then, thank you!

For uploaded lists aim for 500+ contacts to safely clear the 300 threshold after matches and privacy filters

certainly not, since one can never completely rely on the percentage match.even if there is a 90% match, there will be some people who will not get included in the ad group.the minimum would be fine but i think that it is better to go above that. reaching 300-320 seems like playing too close to the minimum some extra contacts will ease everything conssiderably.

i wouldn't rely too heavily on the match percentage there can be another drop between matched contacts and people actually eligible for targeting.

the match rate isn't necessarily the final audience size linkedin applies another privacy related filter sfterward.
