Two different languages on the same channel ?

H everyone
Is it appropriate to upload videos in two different languages on the same YouTube channel, or should I use two different channels?

No, it doesn't make sense to use two different languages on the same channel as the goal is to build a community. Which you can't do if you mix up languages
 
depends on the niche too for tutorials or entertainment with a global audience one channel might be workable with separate playlist and clear titles.
 
yt has multi language audio now, but managing it is kind of a mess. Trying to handle sponsorships for different regions on the exact same upload gets tricky, plus the two audiences usually want different things anyway, going with two separate channels is just way less headache

Use different channels for different languages because it can help you get views, but your subscribers will be confused by your content. Also, the YouTube algorithm will take a long time to figure out which audience should see your videos.
 
Better to spread GEO audiences across multiple channels, same with niches as YT’s algo will start pushing your content to audience based on your video’s metrics.
 
I think you should separate the two channels, as each language attracts a different audience.
 
if the videos are almost identical expect for language separate channels may be cleaner you can keep the branding consistent across.
 
My channel still uses English subtitles at the bottom, and it works pretty well. You can also add subtitles at the bottom, so you don’t need to use two separate channels.

You can, but I’d decide based on the audience rather than the language itself. If most viewers only understand one of the two languages, mixing them means they’ll probably skip half your uploads.

For a small/new channel I’d test both on one channel first. If you start seeing a clear split in views and returning viewers, that’s when I’d separate them. No need to manage two channels before you know you actually need two.

I see that YouTube now has a multilingual dubbing feature,allowing you to keep a single channel while viewers in different countries can still listen/read in their own language.
 
I think it can work on one channel if both languages target a similar audience. But if the viewers are completely different, separate channels would probably keep things cleaner and avoid confusing your audience.

Thank you for your perspective. Categorizing with playlists and clearly specifying the titles is quite a flexible approach

if we decide to split into 2 separate channels for the 2 languages, how should we handle the old videos that were already posted in multiple languages on the main channel?

if split into 2 separate channels, starting from scratch to meet the monetization requirements (1,000 subscribers and 4,000 watch hours) for the new channel will take quite a lot of time.

If I dub or add subtitles in multiple languages to the same video instead of splitting it into 2 separate videos, will YouTube’s algorithm automatically distribute that video to the right audience in each country

Divided into two channels tbh, language mixing ruins audience engagement and click through rates because Youtube doesnt know whom to show ur videos to.

Oh, I’d use two channels if the audiences are different. Mixing languages on one channel can hurt CTR and retention since some subscribers may skip videos they don’t understand
 
From a users perspective its horrible having 2 languages on one channel.

Indeed, if you mix two languages on the same channel, the algorithm will have difficulty identifying the target audience, reducing CTR and negatively affecting recommendations.
