I will be honest: I tried to make money with crypto in the last few years and it was a miserable failure. Of course there are sometimes when you are in heavy profits, but in most cases, you will just give it all back, sooner rather than later.
It's a like a casino, you can obviously make money, but you lose control and eventually you don't know where exactly you are. Sometimes you listen to a guru, an expert, an economist and in the end, they are as lost as you are. Nobody knows anything for sure.
And I read a lot about "investments" - in the sense of "passive income", make money just speculating - throughout the history and it's interesting to see some cases.

Geniuses like Sir Isaac Newton burned significant amount of money with stock investments. He didn't lose all his money, but his investment journey was just lame. If even the man with a Top 5 highest IQs in human history, a historic mathematician, can't fully understand the markets, who am I to pretend I know what I am doing? Mark Twain burned most of his money with questionable investments. Machines that would be like the "memecoin" version of 1890. Not to say about "non-investments", like casino...people like Dostoyevsky and Ada Lovelace burned most of their money in roulettes or horse racing. In the end, they were all trying to seek the easy money, even being geniuses, they didn't realize they were just wasting time and burning their money.

How about the massive wave of suicides during economic crashes? Wall Street investors, reputable businessmen, experienced investors, for decades they thought they fully knew what they were doing, during the 90s they were building reputation and they thought they had everything under control. 20 years later, thousands of then just killed themselves after losing all the money. 1929 and 2008 had something in common: an unusual surge in high-profile suicides, especially investors and businessmen. In both crashes, people just lose all their wealth in months. Recently, during this memecoin fever, there were several reports of "investors" (or bettors) killing themselves after their altcoin, shitcoin or memecoin lost 99.99% of their value. Not just rug pulls, but also "serious" altcoins that ended dying.
How about gold? It has a serious reputation, but people who bought it in the 80s, just recovered it in 2025...45 years later, they finally recovered what they invested (if they are still alive), if we consider the inflation. If you bought the bottom in the 90s, only a decade after that, like in 2011, you made a 7X. That's great, but I made more than a 7X in just one year with hard work instead of waiting for a passive income miracle and I will talk more about it below.

Bitcoin could be an exception, unfortunately I was a kid back in the day, when it really worth it. Sorry, I couldn't use my parent's allowance to figure out how to create a wallet and buy bitcoin in 2012, it was not as easy as it is today. I was too busy with school drama and math tests. Nowadays, the earnings are diminishing, you can still make something from it - but many people still try to time the bottom or sell too early, in the end, they invest too much mental effort trying to understand the markets, trying to draw some random lines and calling it a "technical analysis". Too much risk, too much stress, too many fake gurus driving you to the financial death. If something happened in the past, there is no guarantee that it needs to repeat again. Sometimes it can rhyme, sometimes it's simply completely different. Sometimes it's just rigged, manipulated by huge corporations and you can't control it as you wished.
You might say, this is just copium and i'm dumb or a loser like the mentioned high IQ people above. But I'm staying away from any kind of investment: gold, crypto, forex, SP500, metals, I don't care. You name it, i'm staying away.
Do you want to know how I REALLY made money in the last couple of years? Simply hard work. I stopped chasing unicorns, passive income investments promising a 100X, altcoins, memecoins. Even safer investments, like Vanguard or XLE. i realized: well, this investment could even make me 50% profit in a year. But what if I just take this money and invest in marketing for my businesses? Or invest building a new project? Some will work, some will not, but I prefer to invest in "active income" than relying on predictions and limited profits decided by someone else.
I started to fade all that and put my money on personal projects, businesses with real value, invested in marketing, delivered something to real customers and scaled it up. You create a brand, you create a name, you can even sell it for thousands of dollars, maybe millions if you create a really useful SAAS.
Even affiliate marketing, bringing customers to real brands, receive a solid commission, not bad at all. It's not passive income, you are not going to make money without lifting a finger, no emotions, no adrenaline spikes, no high cortisol, but it's something that also worked well for me. Much less anxious after that.
I really suck at investments, maybe I will be more exposed. to inflation and FIAT devaluations, but when you are growing your wealth 3-5 times per year, this becomes something minor (unless you live in a country with a very bad local currency or under extreme inflation conditions, in this case, even USD, CHF or EUR will be enough to protect you in this case).
They are going asymptotically to zero, it's true, but in my experience, I just realized that all those stock investments, gold, crypto, they don't worth it. They were not protecting me from inflation. They were actually making me lose money. Not only money, but making me much more stressed trying to guess what will be the next candle, what the FED chairman will say, what Trump will say. I don't care about it anymore. I took full control under my money instead of depending on what someone will say and cause a massive dump or pump in the markets.

my personal financial life according to Revolut chart (my other bank accounts don't have this feature, sorry) - it's better than most investment charts
I started to make real money when I stopped buying the altcoin of the year and stick the old FIAT currency, the same that probably made me lose 3-5% yearly with inflation, but i used it to pay for my business projects and in the end, I earned 300-500% in year with this "active income", rather than praying for a chart to move to the right direction or drawing lines hoping it was the correct TA.
Just sharing my experience, if you suck at "passive income investments" you are not alone and you are not cooked, just put hard work on it: create your own business, create your own brands, work to build multiple projects, some will fail, others will succeed and you will not even realize that minor loss due to inflation hitting your USD balance.
Your time will be dedicated to "how can I improve my business", "how can i solve this problem", "how can i reach more people" instead of "what if Kevin Warsh says something bad today", "what if the bottom is already in", "what if gold remains stable for 20 years again", "what if the AI bubble bursts next year and my investments lose 80% of their value?".
Just my personal thoughts, if you made 100X with an altcoin and didn't give it back to the market, kudos. I'm more focused on building my own projects, brands, different businesses, for now it's that.
