Hi members,

I am new to this forum and currently facing issue with my PPC campaigns.
I changed the match type for one of my keywords and noticed the traffic pattern changed a lot after that.
the number of clicks, search terms, and even the type of visitors seemed diffrent. I did not change anything else in the campaign. is this normal when changing match types, or is there something else I should check?

Yes, that can happen. Match type changes which searches can trigger the keyword, so the traffic can look quite different.

Yes, that's actually normal. Changing the match type can significantly affect the search terms, traffic quality, and visitor intent.

Yes, changing the match type can change the type of searches you get. Check the search terms and negative keywords first to see where the new traffic is coming from.

Yes, that is quite possible because changing match type will affect the way your keyword triggers its searches, resulting in variation in clicks, search queries, quality of visitors, etc. It is always best to compare the Search Term reports before and after making the change. Also, it is always good to have negative keywords.

check the change history once more to make sure no other setting was changed aroud the same time.

I would review the search terms and conversion data first. The traffic change itself is not always a bad sign.

The type of the match can change traffic and search terms that you can get. First I would look at the search terms report and negative keywords to see what changed.

Yes, thats normal. Match type can change the search terms and traffic you get.

Make sure the landing page and ad are still matching the new searches, especially if the keyword started triggering broader queries.

Check your search terms for completely unrelated queries and add negatives where needed.

Yes, this is normal. Match type can change the search terms and traffic a lot. I would check the search terms report first and compare it with the old one.

Normal in most cases, just compare the search terms before and after the change. Also check your negative keywords.

Yes, this can be done. Even minor changes like changing the match type will influence the keywords triggering the ad, resulting in traffic changes.

Yeah, match types can have a noticeable impact on PPC traffic. Even a small change can alter which searches trigger the ads, so I’d compare search terms, CPC, and conversion data before making further changes.

That makes sense because match type directly affects which search queries can trigger your ads. I’d check the search terms and conversion data before deciding whether the change actually improved performance.

Yeah, that can happen when you change the match type. It can bring in different search terms and traffic, so I’d check the search terms report first to see what actually changed.
