Why do simple Linkedin posts blow up?

i think useful and easy to engage with are 2 different things.

sometimes a really detailed post answers everything so the reader just thinks "good info" and keeps scrolling. a simple post about something people have experienced themselves gives them an easy reason to add their own story/opinion.

i'd compare the posts getting comments and look at what kind of response they naturally invite, not just how much information is in them.

early comments in the first hour drive everything on LinkedIn. Helps a bit to create controversial content to drive responses.

I've seen very basic posts get hundreds of comments while useful posts get almost nothing. What am i missing?
If people post comments at the first couple of hours from the creation of a post, then the algorithm pushes it further and that's what you're experiencing.

Engagement early certainly helps, but I would stick to good hooks rather than trying to create controversy. Real discussion will produce better engagement than anything else.

It's pretty much the same on all social media platforms.
At times, pretty much spam gets a lot of likes whereas something simple and valuable gets only a few likes.

i think the topic matters more than how detailed the post is a simple opinion can start more discussion than a long guide
Getting into good, heated arguments and taking controversial stances makes your thread get more engagement much quicker than just dumping a huge amount of text that no one is going to read. In-depth analysis has its time and place, but a good, attention-grabbing prompt starts an interesting discussion.

Sometime its less about how much information a post contain and more about how easy it is for people to relate to it .Simple posts with personal experience a clear opinion or a question people want to answer can get more comments .Timing and audience also play a role .A useful post does not always generate engagement if it does not encourage people to join the conversation

simple posts will generate simple responses but informative ones require more of a hook and better distribution, I feels linkedin rewards conversations, not just information.

Honestly, it’s usually not about how “useful” the post is. basic posts often win because they trigger an opinion, argument, or easy personal experience. If you want comments, end with something people can quickly disagree with or relate to. Give them a reason to reply, not just a reason to read.

imo the more basic the post, the easier it is for people to respond to it. an opinion or experience that is not too compllicated will give someone the motivation to share his or her experience as well whereas a more complicated nd practical post will be read but not responded to.

You’re not missing anything technically, but rather something rooted in the psychology of social media users. The algorithm doesn’t distribute “useful” posts, it distributes posts that generate engagement

The linkedIn algorithms favors early commenting velocity and sharing over long explanatory content. Polarizing hooks ensure that people have to start arguing in the comments straightaway.

i think the hook matters a lot if the first line makes people stop scrolling the rest has a better chance.

i think simple posts give people an easier way into the conversation a detailed post can actually feel harder to respond to

Often it comes down to relatability and engagement rather than how much information the post contains. Simple ideas that encourage people to share an opinion or experience can generate more comments and reach than highly detailed posts.
