incorrect units of measurement

Has anyone faced this problem. when checking products in the US through the "Shopping" tab, under my specific product's "About this product" page, I'm getting units in "cm" and "kg" instead of "inches" and "lbs".

Is this related to structured data or Merchant Center? How do I fix it?

This is normally an incompatibility between the setting of the target country for your feed and your schema markup. The default setting is metric when your feed target is the US without any imperial attributes found in shipping weight or product length.

That's usually a mismatch between your Merchant Center feed and product schema..
  1. Merchant Center: Ensure your US target feed is set to imperial units (in/lbs), not metric.
  2. Schema: Check your structured data code to make sure weights and dimensions explicitly use lb, oz, or in instead of kg or cm.

Before making any changes to the structured data, I’d review the Merchant Center product feed, especially the shipping and product attributes. Google may be pulling the units directly from the submitted product information.
 
before changing the target country settings i'd check what the actual feed is sending.

google accepts both metric and imperial units, so US targeting alone doesnt necessarily mean it will convert everything to inches/lbs.

if merchant center is receiving cm/kg i'd fix it at the source and make sure the schema uses the same values too. otherwise you might change settings and still see the same thing.
 
usually caused by mismatch between target country settings in the feed and schema markup.if the feed targeting the us but the shipping weight or product dimensions dont include imperial values the system may default metric

first of all, I am going to consider the initial value nd match them against the schema alone targeting of the United States by itself does not imply the conversion of cm/kg.

feed override Schema TBF. use the hard coded weight in/inlbs in the feed attributes instead of waiting for google to convert metric weight
 
I’d check both Merchant Center product attributes and structured data. Make sure dimensions and weight use correct values and units, then verify the product feed.
 
Check what units the feed is actually sending first. If it’s sending cm/kg, Google may just be showing that. If the feed already has in/lb, then compare it with the schema and see where they differ.

feed data is always overriding schema. Hard code 'in' nd 'lbs' in the merchant center feed data and it will be sorted out.
 
Probably it comes from Merchant Center or the product structured data. Look at the weight and the dimensions you send. Make sure they are in lb and inches. Do not send kg and cm by mistake. If your feed is fine and the units match, then Google could be showing the numbers with the unit labels it chooses in the Shopping tab. In that case, you may not be able to switch it yourself.

Of course, i'd rather double check the actual feeds first before just changing the schema. If the feed and the schema match up, then check how Google understands the product data.

Sure, mismatches between feed and schema can create odd display/unit problems. I would try to maintain alignment between target country, feed attributes, and product schema, and re-check after the next crawl.

to be honest feed is what I would start with; schema changes would not be an issue since the merchant data will be using cm/kg
