Hi, I run small website with parsing services, I copied design from another popular site in my country, but I didn't use any their media, icons, or texts. Everything is rewritten, pictures, icons = changed to open source alternatives. In complain they argue that I copied their previous design (currently it's a bit different) and used similar domain name = that's true. In notice google says that they in process of removing copyrighted content from search output. My question is it that easy for them to remove my site from search output by just saying that my site copied their design ? From my point of view, design is more abstract form of possesion than something specific. In fact, everything else that they could complain about I changed to opensource alternatives.

I filled out an appeal form saying that I didn't use any their resources, icons, texts and so on.

What should be my next steps? Can it be that google belives them more than me ?

you will have to wait for Google’s response to the appeal before making major changes. Keep records showing how the current design, content, images, and other assets were created, because that can help if the complaint is disputed.

Google doesn’t necessarily decide who is legally right; they can delist URLs based on a copyright complaint while the dispute is handled. I’d document your original design, open-source licenses, and differences from their site, then review the exact notice and use Google’s counter-notification process if the removal was incorrect.

google can take action on your copyright notice without dettermining which side has a legal right. as u have modified the text, graphics nd icons, make sure to maintain copies of ur original work nd copyrights. the problem with the simillar domain name is a different matter entirely.

It's the domain name + design that is the issue, not just a single thing.

Main thing being the domain name.

same domain with same layout can actually lead to complaints tbh. even if there have been change in the assets. waiting for a response from google.

the critical aspect here is to pinpoint the exact thing that was said to have been copied in case the texts images icons and other copyrighted materials are different i would highlight these differences and try to make my appeal as precise as possible yet in terms of the similarity in the site design and domain name, another problem might arise.

Yes Google can act on copyright complaints. Keep proof that your content and assets are original. Wait for the appeal result and consider legal advice if it is rejected.
