How are people adding a collaborator to old image posts on Facebook?

I keep seeing image posts that are months old suddenly show up on asecond page as a collab post, with both page names in the byline.

But as far as I can tell, Facebook only lets you invite a collaboratorin the composer, before publishing. Nothing in the post's menu afterit's live.

The /collaborators Graph API edge is video/reels only.

So how is it being done on old image posts?

please help to figure it out

Official UI + Graph API only allow collab invites at creation time for image posts. Nothing public for live/old ones. People are hitting undocumented /collaborators endpoints on existing post_ids with a proper page access token. Works on photos if the scopes are right. Agencies and some third-party tools already have this wired up- that’s why you see months-old images suddenly get the dual byline.

If no tool access; Only clean workaround is delete → re-post as collab → backdate. You lose the original engagement though.

which tool have this feature?

I think they edited the post to add partner information. Facebook still gives us the right to edit its content, you can try checking it out.

no, it not gives such option on that way. there is some other unofficial way and want to figure it out

That sounds like a newer Facebook feature or a rollout that isn’t available to every account yet. If the post is genuinely months old, I’d suspect an unpublished/limited collaboration workflow rather than the normal composer option. Has anyone confirmed the exact account type or Page setup behind those posts?

Yeah, I’d go by the Page type first. Facebook introdues new features differently to users; therefore, just because there is an old post about it doesn’t mean it was released to everyone.

I don’t think there’s a normal public option to add a collaborator to an old image post. Meta documents tagging existing Page photos, but not retroactively adding a collab, so those examples may be part of a limited rollout or account-specific feature rather than something available to everyone.

It depends on the post and the account. Check the options on the old photo post to see if the collaborator option is available. If it is not there, Facebook may not allow it for that post.

If Invite collaborator isn’t in Edit Post there’s no real workaround :D you’ll usually need to repost it as a collab
