How do I get people to use my forum

i'd stop spending on ads for a bit and look at what happens after someone lands there.

if 100 people visit but almost nobody makes a first reply or comes back a few days later, more traffic wont really solve it. make a few recurring threads that are very easy to participate in and have your existing members reply to new people quickly.

once you find a type of discussion that actually gets newcomers to return, thats the thing i'd promote.

How much more specific do you want him to get without knowing your niche or shoe size?

Do you want people to hold your hand, run the forum for you perhaps?

Not to be rude.. but come on bro! That's not a general reply you got, that's a solid response given what little details you've provided with regards to the industry the forum is in.

If all else fails - buy a giant spoon (silver if possible) then start DMing people like @BlackShield .. DEMAND that they answer you with exact specifics, or else face the raft of your recently acquired giant (hopefully silver) spoon.

since you already have real active users i'd stop thinking about traffic for a bit and work on the first 7 days of a new member.

when someone joins, get them involved in one active discussion quickly. reply to them, ask something back, tag them later if that topic continues. i'd also have 2-3 recurring threads every week so people know there is always something to come back for.

do this manually with the next 30-50 members and watch how many actually return after a week. if people join but dont come back, more ads will just give you a bigger version of the same problem.

Pay them to post very deep and useful content. Once others see it through google search, they will also join. I am sure all forums use this approach when they are starting.

The best way to get initial traction is to fake engagement. Create users and post SEO optimized content that looks like genuine interaction between users. When you start getting traffic, actual users are going to sign up and start posting.

since u already have some users online i would suggest starting from there. create some engaging threads nd get ur usual users to participate in the disscussion. this will give new users a reason to sttick around. word of mouth works better than advertising on forums.

Use a niche keyword related to your forum’s topic in the forum title so that it can be discovered through search engines like Google and Bing. Share relevant forum posts in discussions on platforms where the content is related or where the posts can help answer people’s questions.

rather than pouring more money into advertising i would prefer to concentrate on community activities. create some discussion topics, invite some active participants from other similar communities nd make sure that any newcomers receive fresh ressponses.
