Hey guys,

Single AI updates are wiping out entire SaaS tools and content sites overnight.

What business models are you think that are actually safe (or boosted) by AI rather than threatened by it?

Would love to hear how you guys are positioning yourselves for the long run.

I think the safest businesses are the ones where AI is the leverage, not the product itself, businesses with proprietary data, strong distribution, deep workflow integration, or real-world execution. Thin SaaS wrappers are probably the most exposed indeed. Examples: shopify theme;s, cooked.

I agree, the business model needs to leverage AI not wraping the business about it, this will make the entry barier higher.

If you want truly update-proof, an offline service-based niche is probably going to be your best bet. It's likely going to be decades before AI can handle something like antique furniture repair, for example.

SaaS can still be made largely update-proof if you use self-hosted models on rented servers instead of API wrappers. It's a lot more upfront work, but once you've got the model and workflow dialed in, they're locked until you decide to update them.

Of course, you're still banking on someone not coming along and doing a better job cheaper, but that risk comes with every business plan, online and offline.
