This hits hard. Of course With OCD, anything could hit me hard,.. but..

So, what is life then?

How do you see life, how do you choose to spend the limited time you have?

We spend nearly 60 years working for a 5-year of “freedom,” and even that comes with no certainty.

The journey matters more than the destination. The meme misses an important aspect: "Enjoy yourself while you are at it." .

That changes everything, doesn't it? If you do everything just for the sake of earning money, you will probably never enjoy your life.

My life's motto is super simple - earn enough to take care of myself and my loved ones, and then enjoy life.

So...hmm... Based on the meme, I find this appropiate:
Make a big thing (in the positive way) from each and every small detail the Life is passing on you, and learn to live the moment. Leave the Past (because you cannot change it) and the Future (because, even with a strong perspective, it's still uncertain), and focus on the NOW.

Life is short - Enjoy it!

For some people, the job is their entire identity
If you enjoy what you're doing, it's time well spent

The journey matters more than the destination.
nope! Some people have really miserable journeys, totally not worth taking on. And for those people - understandably so - the destination (death, to end all of the misery and suffering) matters more.

with this, I fully agree though :)

So, what is life then?
it can be interpreted in a lot of ways...

1) it's a journey between 2 holes: you come out of one at birth, you enter into another one when you die (I've read this in a book, and I remembered it because I like its cynical accuracy)
2) it's a brief experience that Consciousness has in human form (this one I've learned from David Icke, and it's what I tend to believe at the moment)
3) it's a scam, like your meme says

Doesn’t have to be this way. That is why the journey matters.

I have been very lucky to be born in a family where my parents gave me a solid base to build upon. I understand not everyone is so fortunate. Their journeys are tougher, for sure. I can’t speak for them unfortunately. All I am saying is that if you have a positive attitude towards your betterment, it may help making the situation better. :)

So that I just never choose work. Just for 5 years' freedom, instead I am enjoying my parents wealth.

So it mean i’ll spend my whole 99 years doing nothing but to find people like you who ask these type of questions so i can answer that don't work and take a chilllllll :D

Try to Understand why creater makes you human rather than spending life to earn money for 5 year freedom.

I think we human beings can not live at peace without working or being busy with something so that time passes by. Suppose you have nothing to do in your life; everything you need will come without any struggle, such as food, money, a house, and all that you want. You just have the whole 24 hours free; time passes, you learn some skills, but for what? You read books, explore the world, go on trips, and year after year it gets into a loop. You will be bored. If you do not have anything to do in life, it will not mean anything to you; you will be affected by aggression, depression, anxiety, insomnia, and a lot of things. So, in order for the circle of life to keep going and to keep humans busy, there are some aspects that we all are bounded with.

This is why I spent my teenage years building up multiple passive income streams, it allowed me to live a life free of work, free of my worst nightmare: a 9-5

If we were smart, we'd have more living co-ops. It's the only way to beat the system for everyone. 10-20 acre plots all over interlinked online with a hub, pitch in have a set of rules and punishments. This is the way

Why does it hit hard? Are you just realising that this is the "norm" for the majority of society?

Where exactly was the rock located that you just peeped your lil head out of?

Just messing.. but bro as they say in one of my all time fav movies..

"Welcome to the Layer Cake, son."

It's been this way since I can remember and I'm almost 40 now, so I'm considered a "millennial" or whatever the fuck they call it - I remember the no internet days, I remember dial up, AOL being the hub of the internet for a time and fuck knows what else.

I figured out at a young age (around 14) internet money would be the future.. this was a few years into the internet becoming sort of "known" at the time.. we were still on dial up mind you - but fuck what a time to be alive, when the internet was what it was intended to be - a place of FREEDOM.

I was fortunate to figure this out young - internet monies > rat race.. and I never looked back.

You have a choice and I don't mean to sound obnoxious but so does 99% of the people with an internet connection - most choose to doom scroll, shit post, troll, fake it on socials or whatever other nonsense that gives them a quick dopamine boost.

We now live in a "dumbed down, dopamine addicted, low attention span" era.. and are you surprised? The most viewed content now is less than 10 seconds long, on apps that hook people into them as deeply as crack.

This is kind of why people like yourself (or at least those who made that widely shared image/sentiment) are finally getting annoyed and waking up.. but you're late to the party.

for me freedom doesnt mean doing nothing.

its more about having control over your time. if you can choose when to work, what to work on and when to stop, even 30-40 years of working can feel completely different from waiting until retirement to finally live.

i think the real problem is when your whole life is postponed for some future point where you expect freedom to suddenly begin.

Mind sharing the book's name bro?

All part of the journey friend.

Neither option is inherently good or bad if you try to enjoy making the most of every day along the way.

I know millionaires that are miserable, and people without a penny that have the blood of Euphrosyne in their veins.
