Hi evryone,

Google search getting more competitive nowadays. does anyone think topical authority still important for rankings?

Building topical authority helps cover topic more broadly nd target different search intents but I'm curious whether content quality, first-hand experience, and original insights are playing bigger role here..

is broader topical coverage still better approach, or to be focused on fewer, highly relevant pages more effective

Curious to hear your thoughts.

Yes, topical authority still matters, but depth beats volume.

Focus on highly relevant pages that satisfy distinct search intents, backed by original insights and genuine expertise.

I think topical authority is still important, especially when its supported by good, relevant placements. Covering a topic well and getting relevant mentions from trusted sites can work together to build stronger overall authority.

I still think topical authority matters, but I wouldn’t build 100 pages just to cover a topic. I’d rather build a tight cluster of highly relevant pages with real experience, original data and strong search intent matching, then expand once.

If you build too many pages to cover topics that could easily be covered by a few, you might still rank for some. But from my experience, some of those pages may end up not even getting indexed.

But if you're building an authority site, you'll be thinking for the long term, and with that in mind, you can never go wrong having a broader topical coverage. That coverage is something a lot of authority sites have above others, and I would think it helps in keeping them at the top.

smaller set of useful pages with real experience, original insights, and strong relevance can be more valuable than broad coverage without much depth so build around what genuinely helps the searcher, then expand when there’s a clear need.

I think topical authority is still useful, but covering more topics doesn’t automatically mean better rankings. Content quality, relevance, and real experience seem equally important. I’d be interested to see how others balance broad coverage with focused content.

Yes, it still matters but as of me prioritize depth, intent coverage and genuine useful og insights over publishing content just to cover more topics. So focused on strong cluster on relevant page build authority more natural than broad as thin cvrge.

Yes, topical authority still matters, but I wouldn’t publish dozens of pages just to cover a topic. I’d build focused clusters around closely related search intents, then add original insights and first-hand experience.
Depth and relevance usually matter more than content volume alone.

topical authority important but creating.smaller group of useful pages with real experience and original ideas than cover a huge topic without much depth.

I still find topical authority as important, random links are not we want. I prefer to build high quality links on relevant pages with strong content.

It is important but you cannot rank just based on one factor. Google ranking depends on combination of multiple factors. You have to work on all of those aspects.

I think original information can make a big diffrence. a page with real experience can stand out form basic rewritten content.

Topical authority still matters but I wouldn’t treat it as a standalone ranking strategy. In my experience a smaller set of tightly focused pages with strong intent matching original information, good internal linking and genuine expertise often beats publishing dozens of loosely related articles just to cover a topic.

Topical authority is indeed the most important factor for Google rankings now. But it does not mean that you should ignore other on page and off page SEO methods .

Yes, working on building topical authority is definitely a thing because that makes you a niche subject. Think about it in a way where you have to go see an expert in a niche, maybe someone that fixes BMW cars. That's an expert for the car brand.

They've developed topical authority in that niche but in SEO and AEO, topical authority would make so much sense if you have enough domain authority because the competition is really steep. I wouldn't suggest you dwell on topical authority for so long if you have a new domain. I would always suggest working on the authority of your domain because that's the only way Google can trust the topics you're building

Totally depends on the niche imo
Some micro-niches stay untapped for a very long time

This depends entirely on your niche, competitors and research in general.

Sometime broader with many pages is better, other times deeper on few.

broad coverage alone doesn't cut it anymore if the content is thin. the sweet spot is going deep on a focused niche with content that has expertise behind it rather than trying to cover everything at surface level.
