One article suddenly died after bringing most of my traffic

Totally been in that boat where one page hogs all the spotlight, and when it drops, it stings. I started running regular content audits every couple of months, just looking for old posts that could use some TLC or a fresh angle. Also, mixing up post types and targeting some easier, long-tail keywords took some of the pressure off my golden goose article. Checking what’s ranking now really helps spot what might be missing.

if the entire traffic is made up of 70% by one article alone then any minor change in its ranking can make it seem as if the entire website has fallen. one should examine whether the demand for that particular topic has also reduced apart from just looking at the rankings. for the future i would also create some other rellevant articles.

If this was done for traffic generating landers as well check google search console for changes in queries and ranking first, then tries new angle on your article
 
There is an article that used to get me many visitors, but now it is no longer bringing in as many hits. When this happened, I assumed it was due to some sort of ranking update. However, I looked at my Search Console and realized that the page was not visible for many queries anymore.
 
I’d also look at Search Console for impressions, queries, and indexing issues.
 
Check GSC for ranking shifts, compare competitors, improve intent, and build supporting internal links.
