I would focus on topics where AI can't easily give the whole answer. Personal experience and real testing can still make a site useful. Low competition alone wouldn't be enough for me.

Sites can still rank, but AI Overviews definitely make informational traffic harder to capture.

I’d focus on niches where people still need to click for detailed answers, comparisons, reviews, tools, or real experience rather than just basic information.
 
informational niches are cooked yeah.. i moved to stuff where people need to buy /commercial brand intent or compare, AI overview cant sell them a product. and the link building side didnt change at all, same tiers same tools

Sure, it would be much simpler for commercial purposes, particularly when the traffic is coming with some kind of purchsing intentions. While informational websites can also be profitable, it will require some good way of monetization other than advertisemnts.
 
Micro sites works as compared to informational websites nowadays as it gets AI overview in front of the Blue links. I would suggest to pick a niche which interests you the post so you can work without getting tired or looking at clock. Passion is imperative if you want to go long term. Good luck
 
Websites can still rank after Google AI Overviews, but traffic may change because users get answers directly in search results. In 2026, focus on specific niches, original experience, useful content, strong trust signals, and topics that need detailed answers.
 
Comedy skits and reels. This is one niche AI has not gotten enough data on and yet people require them to relax especially on TikTok and Facebook

I will never use purely informational websites again. on the contrary, I am more successful now using material related to buyer intent, tools, review nd niches where people need clicks after the AI response.
 
Focus on niches requiring firsthand experience, local knowledge or original testing, such as local services, hobbies, product comparisons and case studies.

You can humanize AI content so it ranks and stays ranked better. Experience based products/services work the best. Anything that works with reviews that is, works the best.

imo ranking will still be possible in 2026, however, the traditional method of writing 1,000 words for each keyword is becoming outdated. i would go after specific niches, inject personal knowledge nd graphics nd create content that is built upon a question that the user needs an answer to by going to ur webssite.
 
yeah AI overviews can take some clicks especially for queries that can be answered directly in the SERP. i'd focus on topics where people still need to visit the actual site.
