I've recently decided to take a break from social media and have been trying to delete my account. The issue is, I can't remember my password. Now that doesn't seem like too much of an issue, since I can just send the "forgot password" email to myself, except the email I used to make the account is based out of this random website that doesn't exist anymore. So, I tried to change the email connected to the account, but it asked for my password!

I genuinely have no idea what to do here.

That's a tough situation. If the old email is no longer accessible, I'd try the platform's account recovery or support option and explain that you no longer have access to the original email. They may have another way to verify that the account belongs to you.
Yes, support is definitely the way to go if you lost your email. Ownership information can be handy because they may need it for additional verification.

I’d contact X support and explain that you no longer have access to the original email. They’re the only ones who can help you recover or deactivate the account at this point.

Contact support for help. In the past they helped me to do the same what you want to do now.

Check if the account has a linked phone number or recovery option, you might be able to reset the password without that old email.

Check your browser settings under saved passwords before doing anything else. chrome, firefox, and keychains often auto-save passwords during login without you realizing it. If it is not saved there and you don't have a phone number attached to trigger an sms code, X support won't manually unlock the profile without email confirmation

Have you contacted the support? What did they say about this?

That’s a rough loop, If the old email is gone, I’d try the platform’s account-recovery process first. You may be able to verify ownership another way before changing the email or deleting the account.
