built links to a page that was already number 1 just to see. it stayed number 1 but the pages linked from it moved up. didnt expect the second part

I had stripped a lot of fluff off a page having expected nothing from the change, but the rankings improved after Google re crawl. It made me realises the value of adding more content simply for the sake of being busy.

Updating old content surprised me. A few small changes to titles and content improved rankings more than I expected.

Yes, I have seen safer anchor variation perform better when compared to an exact match approach. Even branded and naked URLs could help improve relevance while keeping the profile more natural.

I removed the schemas markup from an un known tier 2 website and rankings jumped up two places the next day bcz who knows why.

An experiment that caught me off guard was the editing of my old blog posts rather than creating fresh ones. I edited the content, deleted the outdated portions, optimized my links, and edited a few headings. I didn't expect much change, but I noticed that some pages were now getting more impressions and clicks. This opened my eyes to how valuable my old content was.

Totally agree.

One experiment that surprised me was improving internal linking and tightening search intent on a few pages the rankings moved noticeably faster than expected.

Sometimes the simple fixes beat months of adding more content or links.
