I chose ABO so I could proactively adjust the budget for high-performing ad sets.

trial and error, don't overthink it. Both work and depending on your daily spend it really doesn't make a difference whatsoever

id use ABO while testing so each ad set gets a fair budget

once i know which audiences/creatives are actually working then CBO makes more sense for scaling. i dont think one is better for every stage

ABO for testing winning creative/audience pairs so each gets spent equally. Once you find winners, move them to a CBO to scale and let MetaAI allocate the budget automatically.

I usually use both:
ABO for testing and CBO for scaling.

There's no absolute winner between the two. CBO fits stable accounts with ample budget that want automatic spend allocation; ABO is better for small-budget testing where you need strict control over per-ad-set cost, often paired with A/B testing to measure conversions.

In my opinion, both methods are quite effective, depending on your budget and campaign. If you have a stable budget, you can start with ABO; once you have optimized campaigns, you can switch to CBO to save on costs and adjust the campaigns as desired.

Use ABO for rapid testing of audiences and creatives to leverage AI for the smoothest budget allocation, without the risk
