I have recently started learning about SEO and came across the term "black hat SEO" but I am not fully sure what it means. Could someone explain it in simple terms and maybe give a few examples ?

black hat seo means using shortcuts or tricks to rank faster instead of following search engine guidelines.... things like spammy backlinks, keyword stuffing, cloaking, or hiding text just to manipulate rankings are common examples...it can work for a short time, but it’s risky. sites often lose rankings or get penalized once google catches it... good to understand it, but not something beginners should rely on.

one way to view this would be from the perspective that black hat SEO aims to defeat the ranking system rather than be naturally ranked. the methods may provide fast turnaround, but then again, so can their disappearance due to the changes in algorithms.

Sure, the fast results might seem attractive, but the risks will start to increase rapidly from that point on if the strategy is discovered.
I prefer using safer tactics on the official website and only testing out more dangerous tactics where failure won’t affect my business
In other words this is nothing but manipulating the search engine systems by violating their terms and conditions. Think about something like keyword stuffing or backlink manipulation.

Basically anything that tricks Google instead of earning rankings: PBNs, cloaking, spam links. Works short term, but you're always one update away from losing everything.
