Google is spending my budget on "Junk" search terms. How to stop this?

I'm using 'Phrase Match' keywords, but when I check my search term report, Google is showing my ads for completely irrelevant stuff. I’m losing $50 a day on clicks that don't make sense. Is 'Exact Match' the only way now?

This is a common occurrence with Phrase Match, so you are not alone. My first piece of advice would be to make your search term report more concise by incorporating negative keywords and cleaning it frequently. If you improve your keyword intent and manage negatives appropriately, Exact Match doesn't have to be your only option for controlling relevance.

Google's 'Phrase Match' is basically 'Broad Match' now. It sucks.

You need a huge list of Negative Keywords. I spend 1 hour every day just adding them.

Switch to Exact Match for your top 5 keywords and see if the quality improves.

Do it—words, excluding non-targeted impressions. Because Google now shows ads that are not accurate.

Exact Match works well and you should try it. Wait a few days and see.

Is normal with Phrase Match keywords showing irrelevant ads, BannerBandit. Adding a huge list of negative keywords can be time-consuming, but it's definitely a viable solution. I'd like to ask, have you considered using a tool to help streamline the process of finding and adding negative keywords, or do you rely on manual research? Switching to Exact Match for top keywords is also a good strategy, as others have suggested. How many keywords are you currently working with, and have you noticed any patterns in the irrelevant search terms that are triggering your ads?

Unfortunately exact match is the only way out
You should be able to find money keywords with exact match using keywords tools

Yeah, switching to Exact Match helps a lot, also add lots of negative keywords to block junk searches.

Use Exact Match and add irrelevant terms as negatives; Phrase Match often drifts to junk clicks now.

You don’t need to switch to exact Match yet, but you must stop wasting budget, phrase Match is broader now and brings irrelevant traffic, add negative keywords daily, turn off the display network, and if a keyword still performs poorly, switch it to exact match this usually fixes the issue without reducing traffic.

To be honest I'll add negative keywords first and exact match isn’t the only option.
