Tumblr is still pretty good for niche communities, relatable posts, fandoms, and visual content that people feel like reblogging.

Honestly, I don't think there's one format that always works on Tumblr. I've seen simple posts do surprisingly well when they fit the audience. I'd probably test a few different types and keep doing more of whatever gets people interacting.

text posts with a strong opinion or relatable observation still pull the most notes here honestly, images and gifs get quick likes but text posts get reblogged more.
which actually spreads reach further on tumblr specifically.
