With Google pushing automated strategies like Max Conversions and tCPA, is manual CPC still worth using for better control and lower costs? Curious what’s actually performing better across different niches.
Current Target : Pet Toy , and digital product

For me is working best manual bidding, I can adjust cent to cent my bid strategy.

I still use manual settings to better control my campaigns and manage costs. Automated adjustments seem to be geared toward higher spending.

It really depends on how your campaign is structured, but it’s usually good to test different bidding options and see which one gives you stable performance. For niches like pet toys and digital products, focusing on relevance, quality creatives, and reasonable cost control can help you stay competitive while keeping campaigns manageable. Choosing what works best should be based on your own results rather than following trends alone.

For Pet Toy (e-commerce), automated strategies like Max Conversions/tCPA usually outperform Manual CPC once you have stable conversion data, while for digital products (especially low-ticket or new offers), Manual CPC can still win early on for tighter cost control and testing before switching to automation.

I still rely on manual settings to maintain full control over my campaigns and manage costs effectively. Automated adjustments often push budgets higher, which doesn’t always align with my spending goals.

manual is better to start, especially for niche stuff like pet toys... smart bidding needs like 30+ conversions to actually work or it just wastes money.

Yes, start with manual cpc to validate real keywords and cost per sale, then switch to tcpa only once you have consistent conversions

Manual bidding still works if u know keywords well but smart bidding usually better for most niches, test both see which gives cheaper conversions.

It is best to set your bids manually; otherwise, one fine day, your CPC could spike by 300–500%

Personally i would like to test both and compare CPA and conversions as manual CPC gives more control while max conversions can work well with the enough data.

Yes, manual CPC can be good for testing, but automated bidding may do better once you have enough conversion data also test both and see which gives better CPA.

Manual is good for initial setup.

Manual CPC can still work well when you want tight control over your spend, but Smart Bidding usually gets better once the campaign has enough data.

For pet toys and digital goods, I would try testing both, instead of assuming one is better. CPC manual allows more control at first, but automated bidding could do better once there is clean conversion data.

I’d not choose based on the niche alone. Check how much conversion data you have, then decide between manual and smart bidding.

For digital products I’d probably test both. Sometimes manual looks cheaper on CPC but smart bidding brings better buyers, so I’d judge it by actual sales not just clicks.
