Hey

Testing Pinterest ads for a women's fashion brand (US market).

The initial traffic from search and browse pins looks amazing. People are adding to cart and spending time on the site. But my retargeting campaigns on Pinterest are getting zero impressions or just not spending the budget at all.

Is the Pinterest tag pixel just buggy, or is the audience size too small for their system to optimize?
Thanks:)

Might be the audience size more than the tag. Pinterest can be pretty slow with small retargeting pools.

Try broadening the retargeting window and audience, small pools often dont get enough delivery.

You should try to make a separate audience for cart visitors instead of mixing them with all site visitors.

I think its likely the audiences maybe too small you should check the pinterest tag and give the audience some time to grow before increasing the budget.

Also a good tip would be to create the public you want and exclude others (i.e add to cart, last 30 days visitors etc)

Check the tag and audience size as if the audience is too small then pinterest may struggle to deliver retargeting ads and give it some time and check if the audience is actually building or not.

Make sure the retargeting campaign is not using too many filters, as that can make the audience much smaller.

Check your tag events and make sure AddToCart/PageVisit data is actually coming through. Then test a bigger audience window and see if delivery improves.

1. Thoroughly check that everything is working. Verify that the pixel is active and that events - such as site visits and "add to cart" actions - are being sent correctly.
2. Create separate audiences for general site visitors and for users who abandoned their carts.
3. Observe how the retargeting audience fills up for the first group versus the second. You will realize that you simply need to wait a little while.

Totally agree. Pinterest is amazing as an awareness top-of-funnel engine, but their retargeting tag tracking accuracy is nowhere near Meta. What works much better is sending that cold Pinterest traffic to a low-friction presell/lead capture page, building an email/push list, and handling your retargeting outside of Pinterest via Meta or automated email flows.

I think it could be a small audience and check if the Pinterest tag is tracking correctly and then check the audience size and settings.

A small retargeting audience may not be big enough for pinterest to spend the budget.

Check the tag events and give the audience some time to build before judging the campaign.
