I am new to TikTok and want to understand the analytics. Which numbers are most useful to check first? Should I look at views, watch time, or likes? What do you think a beginner should focus on?

It's quite different from YT and I know views are one of the most important ones, but I still think retention and watch time should be the first focus. If people tend to watch the content to completion then you're already working with a lot. Engagement is par with views, though it's fine if the view-like ratio is a bit wide. That should normalise over time when your content starts to perform better.

I'd focus on watch time and completion rate first. Also keep an eye on shares, even as a beginner. Views and likes are nice, but they don't tell you as much about whether people actually liked the content.

Watch time and completion rate are the most important metrics on TikTok. Likes and overall views are vanity metrics, but if users are watching your video to the end or rewatching it, the algorithm will push it to the FYP much faster

I think you should focus on watch time, viewer retention, and the number of new followers on your page.

As you are new to TikTok you should choose a particular niche and try to make your content more sophisticated. This will lead you to get more views, followers and watch time automatically. Also a fact, post your content constantly. Don't go for purchasing followers or any other paid promotion as you are new.

I'd start with views and average watch time then look at retention. Likes are useful but they don't tell the whole story.

when it comes to a beginners point of view, one should give preference to watching time nd retention rate, rather than likes. views demonstrate how far this video was spread, whereas watching time indicates that the viewer has found the video interesting. the latter is deffinitely the most informative metric.

Honesty speaking I would care less about the number of likes than about the place where the normal viewers stopped watching because it immediately tells us about the problematic part of the entire video.

As a beginner i’d focus on watch time and average retention first because they show whether people are actually staying for the content Views tell you how far the video reached while likes shares and comments are useful secondary signals for understanding engagement

if you just starting out close attention to retention time along with how people reshare and save your content.strong retention and more saves or reshares compared views can good sign that people find the content useful

For a beginner, watch time, especially average watch time and retention is the number to check first, cuz it tells u if people actually stick around. Views show reach and likes are just a quick vibe check, so use ur retention graph to see where people drop off and hook them faster next time.

tiktok likes can get a little misleading at times. Average watch tym with rewatch counts would probably make more sense. If ur videos are being rewatched that means you have discovered something worth doing again.

The raw statistics does not really provide me with much information to be honest. The videos that makes people into subscribers or make people visit the profile are often what are worth reusing.

retention graphs should be reviewed prior to looking at like numbers. retention of audience members in the first couple of seconds will tells us a lot more than the number of views.

tbh i would mainly starts by looking at watch tym and retention bcz the views might be really high but the people are not actually watching the video.

Watch time, view counts and shares are crucial for your channel's future growth for shaping its ongoing development strategy.

For beginners, I’d watch average watch time and retention first, then views. Likes are useful, but retention tells you whether people actually stayed for the content. Once you know that, check which videos turn views into followers.

TikTok is somewhat different from other platforms, sometimes you might go viral unexpectedly. something you can never predict. On TikTok, shares and saves are also very important.
