Oh yeah, specially when I audit through GSC. I am not sure what actually causes this decrease but i can hazard a guess. I think google kind of pushes your pages visibility a notch below so it does not appear when tops when queries are made.I have seen many pages maintain their position yet lose traffic gradually. This has happened to me. Have you noticed that? What causes this decrease in traffic
yes, SERP features can be gradually stealing clicks even if the positions are stable. I would compare impressions to clicks in GSC and see if AI Overviews/snippets take up more space on those queries. This occurs frequently now. It typically stems from Google prioritizing AI Overviews and large snippets at the top of the page, which capture clicks even as your position remains unchanged.
indeed, sometimes when your website drops in the rankings, it does not necessarily mean that you need to improve it. First, I look into CTR, SERP, and query level statistics.Sometimes the ranking stays stable, but users simply click different results. Changes in titles, SERP features, or competing pages can affect click behavior, so I would compare the click-through rate with earlier periods before changing the page.
