Why do my ads show in wrong countries even after targeting settings are correct?

Hii everyone, I’m facing an issue with Google Ads. I have set the country targeting correctly, but still my ads are showing in other countries.
Not sure why this is happening. Is it a setting issue, location option, or something else?
Has anyone faced this before or knows how to fix it?

I faced the same issue earlier. It was caused by Google showing ads outside my target area due to settings. I fixed it by checking location targeting and removing other countries, and it stopped after that.

also check if your IP exclusions and language settings are loose, sometimes google still pushes ads outside if signals are mixed or audience expansion is on.

sometime it may take some time to update with everything in project maybe.
Maybe it is not instantly. it gets into there system

This usually happens because “Presence or interest” is selected, not “Presence only.”

I faced this same issue, this happened with me after editing my campaign settings. google take some time to relearn targeting nd during that time ads showed wider than normal.

Could also be vpn/proxy traffic yeah
Especially if you see random clicks/impressions from tier3 countries, Google location detection isn’t perfect at all

Sometimes ads go to wrong countries because people use VPNs or platform targeting is not 100% accurate. It happens quite often now.

You must click this point when setting up your ad.

You can check your location settings and make sure you choose the option to show ads only to people who are in your selected country.

Sometimes ads appear in the wrong country, as Google has various signals to determine location. This can be a search, location, or their location history. Also, it may be possible to target the location using people who are interested in your selected country. You can fix this by reviewing location options and excluding countries you don't want to be located in.

This must be turned off, otherwise it will start throwing in other geo and a left‑field target.

Check your location targeting setting – Google Ads might be using “Presence or interest” instead of “Presence only” and that can cause clicks from other countries.

check the campsgn and ads groups settings seprately. sometimes one level has a diffrent setting.

first thing i'd establish is whether the ads are actually being served outside the geo or whether the analytics platform is identifying some users differently. those aren't the same problem.

compare the ad platform's geo reporting against your tracker/server data and look at the size of the discrepancy. vpn/proxy traffic and ip databases can create some noise, but if it's significant and concentrated in particular sources/placements then i'd investigate the traffic itself.

This is due to different networks using different ip-databases.

For example I have a recent case where traffic is showing from Belgium at source network and at target network its showing as USA.

the first thing i’d check is the location option — make sure it’s set to presence rather than presence or interest. also compare user location vs matched location in the report. vpn and mobile carrier ip issues will still show up sometimes, but those two checks usually explain most of it.
