YouTube Shorts Killing Long Videos?

I'd keep posting both, just make the shorts related to your long videos so the audience overlaps more. yes, i also noticed this too shorts can pull in toms of viewers don't always watch longer content.

Not in your head at all. Shorts bring in cheap, low-attention subscribers who will NEVER click a 10 minute video. When you drop a long video, YouTube tests it on your new Shorts subs first. They ignore it, your CTR and initial watch time tank, and the algorithm assumes the video is trash and stops pushing it. Separate your channels or stop posting Shorts on your main.

I’ve noticed this too but I don’t think Shorts automatically hurt long form videos the audiences can behave quite differently i’d use shorts as a discovery channel while keeping the topics closely related to the long videos so new viewers have a reason to watch both

Hey,

I started posting Shorts recently and they get way more views than my normal videos. But I feel like my long videos are performing worse since then.
Is this just in my head or have others noticed this too? Curious if Shorts audiences actually hurt long-term growth.
It depends on whether you can give people the same kind of interesting content in long-form videos.

If you are happy with the way the short came out just leave it up. I have found you never know what can happen

Not at all—they are transforming how audiences discover content. While Shorts act as a high-reach funnel to attract new subscribers quickly, long-form videos remain the ultimate tool for building deep audience trust and driving high revenue. The most successful channels leverage both formats together to maximize growth.
