What do you think about SEO,GEO and AEO are the same thing?

What do you think_ are SEO,GEO and AEO all the same thing? or is there a difference between them ?
They're related but not exactly the same. SEO is the broader one, AEO focuses more on getting answers into search features, while GEO is more about visibility in AI-generated results.

There’s definitely some overlap though.

Not exactly. SEO, GEO, and AEO are related, but they are not the same thing.

SEO (Search Engine Optimization)
focuses on improving a website’s visibility in traditional search engines like Google.

AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) is more focused on getting content selected as a direct answer in places like Google featured snippets, voice assistants, and AI-generated answers.

GEO (Generative Engine Optimization) focuses on making content easier for AI search and generative engines to understand, trust, and potentially mention in their responses.

There is definitely some overlap between them—good content, clear structure, authority, relevance, and user intent matter across all three. But the goal and optimization approach are different.

A simple way to remember it:

SEO = Rank in search results
AEO = Become the answer
GEO = Get visibility in AI-generated answers

So rather than thinking of them as three completely separate strategies, I’d look at GEO and AEO as extensions of modern search optimization that work alongside traditional SEO.

What i think, re related, but not the same. SEO focuses on ranking in search engines, AEO focuses on getting your content used as direct answers, and GEO focuses more on visibility in AI generated search results. They overlap, but each has a different goal.

Great breakdown! All three are definitely different in terms of goal and execution.

To add to what others have said — one thing that connects SEO, AEO and GEO in practice is the importance of building genuine authority and trust signals across the web. Whether you are trying to rank in traditional search, get picked as a featured answer or appear in AI generated results, the foundation remains the same — quality content, strong backlinks and a credible online presence.

I have been working on off page SEO for a deals and coupon platform called SnatchSavings (snatchsavings.com) and the biggest takeaway has been that diversifying your link profile across directories, forums, guest posts and community platforms helps across all three — not just traditional SEO.

GEO and AEO are definitely the future though. Optimising for AI visibility is becoming just as important as ranking on page one.

I think they’re different layers of the same strategy. Strong SEO fundamentals still matter, but AEO and GEO add more focus on being understood and cited by answer engines and AI.

They’re related, but not the same. SEO focuses on search engines and rankings, AEO focuses on getting answers featured in search/answer results, while GEO focuses on making your content more visible and usable in generative AI results like ChatGPT and AI search.

I do not think they are exactly the same, although there is a lot of overlap between them.
SEO is mainly about improving visibility in search engines, while AEO is more focused on getting direct answers shown for user questions.
GEO is more about making content easier for AI systems to understand and use.

So I see them as connected parts of the same bigger picture, rather than three completely different things.

You may say that AEO and GEO are offshoots of SEO, but AEO and GEO are quite different from traditional SEO. As AEO focuses mainly on answers shown in the answer results and GEO helps in AI and Google Overview citation.....

They intersect but are not the same. The first targets search engines, while AEO is for direct answers and GEO is for visibility within AI generated results.

they all connect with each other but the main goal is a bit different.seo covers the wider search side while aeo is more focused on getting your content shown as direct answers in search results.geo is mainly about getting visibility when ai systems generate the answer.there is still plenty of overlap between them so working on one can often help with the others too.

They’re related, but I don’t think they’re the same. SEO is mainly about rankings, AEO is about getting direct answers, and GEO focuses more on visibility in AI-generated results. There’s definitely some overlap between all three.

I would look at it from the visibility angle.Seo is about ranking in traditional search, Aeo is about being the source for direct answers, and Geo is about getting your brand/content surfaced or cited in generative ai results.

The tactics will differ slightly, but the foundation is still strong content, topical authority, technical seo, entity relevance and trusted external mentions. I would focus on building those rather than treating seo, aeo and geo as three completely separate campaigns.

They’re definitely different, but they overlap a lot. SEO is more about search engines, while AEO and GEO focus more on getting your content surfaced in answers and AI results.

not the same imo, they overlap a lot but SEO's still about ranking pages, AEO's about getting picked for direct answers/snippets, GEO's specifically about showing up in AI generated responses like chatgpt or perplexity. tactics overlap (good content, structure, authority) but the end goal for each is different
