If you're still using the old Reddit comment edit trick, I'd be careful with it. The method was pretty simple: write a useful comment, let it get some upvotes, wait a few days, then edit it and add your link or brand mention.
This used to work pretty well, but lately it seems to be getting caught much more often. The pattern is easy enough to spot. A normal comment gets posted, gets some traction, and then a few days later the comment suddenly has a promotional link or brand mention added to it.
Once moderators start looking at the edit history, it's pretty obvious what happened.
Doing it once might not mean much, but repeating the same thing across different subreddits can make the pattern pretty easy to identify.
Reddit has changed quite a bit over the last year or two, and some of the old promotion tactics just don't seem to have the same shelf life anymore.
So I'm curious what everyone else is doing now.
If you've found a better approach or a newer way of getting visibility on Reddit without relying on these old tricks, share it. Would be useful to hear what is actually working for people these days.
