What can I expect from a LinkedIn page and how to get the most out of it?

I was asked to move this post to the right subforum, so here it goes again. Sorry for the confusion.

I am incorporating soon, and a LinkedIn page, even if kind of rancid and out of place with, for example, the kind of guerrilla marketing I want to do, seems like a must have.

Are there any LinkedIn marketing services you can recommend or threads you can point me to in the marketplace?

I guess a must have is 500+ contacts. How safe is getting 500 non-organic contacts? Have you had personal experience on this specific point?

What else should I aim for?

Would you, on the contrary, discourage non organic growth, and think it'd be better if I contact people, slowly and painstakenly? I would incorporate as a SaaS looking mid sized web development businesses?

I'd appreciate any and all feedback you can provide!
Thanks,
Elias

you should focus more on making the profile look credible than rushing to hit 500 connections even a smaller network of relevant people can be more valuable, and you can gradually grow it through targeted outreach and engagement so work with what you have currently.

The core value of a LinkedIn page is to build professional trust and credibility. Compared to vanity metrics, high-quality content and genuine customer leads are far more worthwhile goals to pursue.

genuine customer leads
I doubt many customer are going to come through this channel, so how about contacting prospective clients directly? I have had several freelancers contacting me on my personal account with a clear commercial intent, but idk the limits at which this type of cold calling is considered spam on LinkedIn (I will try to search the forum for this).

vanity metrics
IMO, since you cannot see the list of contacts of a user, having the 500+ label stops being a vanity metric and starts translating into reputation... what's your take from this POV?

The credibility of a profile/page on LinkedIn is determined the number of connections. The higher the connections the better. There has be a proliferation of all kinds of stuff recently, forcing LinkedIn to upgraded it's security. What didn't matter now matters a lot therefore, stay away from non organic growth of whatever form. Because one incident will trigger a cataclysmic reaction that will affect your entire presence on that platform. Set up your page, optimize the about with relevant keywords, create contents that resonate with your niche. To grow organically, Once you have enough content, you can post your link to other platforms and direct traffic to your page or profile on LinkedIn

rather than going for contacts randomly in order to get 500 friends i would go for building up my professional contacts related to my saas nd web development market segments. rather than using this page for other purposes i will be posting meaningful content regularly nd will build relationsships with people from my niche through this page.

Yepp, this really terrifies me. Thanks for re-stating what we all know, deep down, but sometimes don't want to believe.

Could you please tell us your niche? Without that we can't advise you properly.

My niche is related to helping businesses and their clients to communicate via embeddable code on their sites.

Sorry I was, and I am, being vague, but I am afraid of being too explicit before acquiring Jr. Vip status.

500 connections looks nice but if most of them have nothing to do with your business, they wont really help real conversations will matter more.

I got the stuff a bit messed up and need to fix it. Connections work for individuals, while followers work for company pages. As far as I have discovered, there's no limit to the number of followers a company will display (unlike contacts for individuals), but yeah I guess something around 500 would be the bare minimum followers I'd need to launch with, and something over 1k would be super good. I wouldn't worry once I have gone past that number.

I will post 3 times a week during the coming weeks and see if that makes me gain followers or what kind of engagement I get.

three posts a week sounds like a solid starting point the engagement quality will probably tell you more than the follower count.

i’d avoid buying or mass-adding 500 contacts, since low-quality connections can hurt trust and may trigger linkedin limits
Yeah, I got this all wrong, and for a business account it's followers what matters, so I will see if I can grow by posting three times a week, then try other strategies.

i would consider linkedIn to be a medium of building trust, rather than numbers. a few real connections made with founders nd prosspective clients could mean much more to me than even a couple of hundred contacts that i purchase or make.

buying non organic connections is risky honestly linkedins gotten stricter about detecting bulk/fake accounts and page credibility can take a hit if the network looks off better to build slow with actual relevant contacts even a smaller real network signals more trust to potential clients checking the page.

a complete page, regular posts and some real engagement would be my starting point. the follower count will come with time.

i'd avoid buying contacts. a relevant network built slowly is more useful and much less likely to create problems.
