Got into the industry organically in 2020. Started running social media accounts for models independently, making like $300/mo. Worked my way up from there.
Nice thread! Could you explain a bit more about the benefits for a model of joining your agency rather than working independently?
The benefits are so numerous that they can honestly be hard to list in full sometimes. I would say the biggest thing is handling volume and increasing average fan LTV.
Models are going to struggle past certain inflection points where they're getting dozens or hundreds or even thousands of messages per day and it's just impossible for them to give fans the attention that they need.
Also while models understand themselves, their brand, and their content better than anybody, unfortunately being a creator does not make you a top-tier salesperson. Some of the best creators in the world will go from 10k a month solo up to 80k a month with an agency just by virtue of having a good team of chatters on the account who are highly trained in things like content upselling techniques, buyer types and fan psychology, GFE, etc.
Some of the more underrated things are:
- content scheduling VAs
- overall content strategy
- brand positioning
- organizational systems
- social media guidance
- etc.
Not to mention just having an entire team of staff behind you that has the experience to understand how to understand your account's trajectory and how to reach maximum potential, and having points of contact to ask questions and brainstorm with 24 hours a day... The benefits are really innumerable.
I'm on a strange side of the OFM spectrum. It's easy for me to get models but pushing traffic is my main issue. I know everyone goes towards Reddit as their main source but there's so many ways to transverse subs from Reddit. The old fashioned anti-detect browser, proxy, and warm up accounts seems to be the most common method. I looked into services that'll take care of it for you but it's 90% scams (already been scammed). I'm also going to use OnlyTraffic to buy traffic as an experiment.
tl;dr - Best traffic source and how you got to that?
Reddit has always been good but always been really tricky. A lot of subreddits are easy to get banned on. I have worked with many different agencies over my time in the industry, doing all sorts of traffic methods. Right now and in general, the most reliable, highest-converting, and highest-value tends to just be organic traffic from social media. Instagram is still the king. TikTok is not as hot as it used to be because of how badly they crack down on anything adult-content-adjacent. Twitter is really easy, especially because you can go completely NSFW, and you have the opportunity to go viral and you can make a multitude of accounts. You can also do things like trend jacking.
Something people really sleep on is cam sites. It's saturated and competitive and all that stuff but everything in this industry is. Fans who come to OnlyFans from a cam site like Chaturbate or Camsoda are very easy to sell to because they are already immersed in an online culture that is normalizing paying for content. When they come in they're already expecting to be sold on content at a certain range of price points and they've just already accepted that mentally.
Whereas if you have a reel that goes viral on Instagram, you might get a thousand new fans. Nine hundred of them are time wasters who are just looking to chat to you all day and never spend a penny or try to get free content out of you. Yes you will have 100, or 10%, or whatever, who will buy eventually but those can also be a little bit hard to convert.
If you have any models who are willing to cam regularly, that's a great place to start as well.
The majority of your long-term traffic will come from organic social, though, primarily Instagram and Twitter.
