With AI Overviews and AI-generated content becoming more common, do you think starting a fresh blog in 2026 is still worth it? What niches or strategies would you focus on today?

I still think it’s worth starting but I’d avoid very broad topics I’d pick a specific niche focus on useful content and try to cover topics that AI generated results don’t answer very well

Blogging in not out dated at all. You have to choose the audience and the topics first. Diffrent niches like health, sport, ai, education, fiction etc. can be good for all ages.

It is not lucrative to same extent. But some guys who have expeirnce in this field are still making good money with new blogs as well.
 
I still think blogging is worth it. I'd focus on a specific niche, real experience and content that actually adds something beyond what AI can easily generate.
 
If there’s something you understand better than most people, your content will find its audience.
 
Yeah, still worth it imo, just gotta focus on useful stuff people actually wanna read instead of posting for the sake of posting.
 
Defiantly still worthy. If your content is informative and unique. In 2026 the competition is very high in blogging. The one who has good keyword and content beats the other competitor.

It is worth starting but it is more competitive than ever nowadays. About the niche question, I have a pest control business and I use 2 sites, one rental and my own. Why? Because in the rental website I cannot use ads, whereas in mine I can use it for facebook ads. Btw my site is also a blog, because I give useful tips about pests on it.

if i was going to start a blog, i would think about it more as creating an asset rather than trying to game google’s rankings. i would find a subject area where there is room for me to be original; through personal experience, examples, testing nd resources that others need. ai has devalued basic information nd blogs that earn credibility will be successfful.

imo it only makes sense if google is being used purely for the discovery purposes only and then pushing people directly onto an email list or community. Relying solely on organic traffic from google for a completely new information blog in 2026 is quite more difficult.
 
Blogging is definitely still worth it in 2026 but generic content won’t be enough I’d focus on a specific niche share real experiences and provide practical insights that readers can’t easily get elsewhere
