Fine, I’ll say it: Stalking works. But strategically.

- Target 2nd-Degree Connections: They see you’re mutuals with [Shared Contact]- instant trust bump.
- Engage Before Connecting: Like/comment on their last 2-3 posts. Then invite with a note: “Loved your take on [Topic]- would love to connect!"
- Abandon "Happy Monday!" Post a polarizing stat instead (“80% of ‘brand experts’ have under 1K followers. Discuss.”)

Warning: Don’t be creepy. But if you’re not getting DMs asking you for advice, you’re too passive.

Solid points, especially about pre-engagement. It's not about being creepy, it's about being seen as a real person with genuine interest. Far too many just hit 'connect' without a thought, and it shows. The mutual connection tip is key for breaking the ice effectively.

Honestly it's almost just easier to mass view profiles and wait for the people to check out your profile and have them connect with you lol, people often send me connection requests and I'm over here like "I was just viewing your profile, I didn't actually want to connect or I would've sent you a request"
Haha, I know exactly the tactic you're talking about- the old profile-view bait! It's a classic move.
You're right, it is easier, and it does work for generating a high volume of connection requests. The catch is, you're mostly attracting other people who are also just playing the numbers game. You end up with a large network that's low on actual engagement.
The "strategic stalking" method is the opposite: it's quality over quantity. It's more work upfront, but the goal isn't just to get a connection—it's to make one. You're building a network of targeted, relevant people who remember why they connected with you, which is way more valuable if you ever want to pitch, sell, or collaborate. So it depends on the goal: mass numbers or meaningful connections.

Yes this trick works on LinkedIn, it infact gets you noticed especially if you sent a personalized connection request with some notes. But make good use of it by showing genuine interest in them by engaging on their posts too

Absolutely! It will be a way efficient if you engage on their posts.

this approach of engage before connect sounds reasonable to me bcuz once there is an actual conversation with someone, then a connection request becomes less of an ad. imo one comment on someone's post is better than likking every single post in order to gain their attention.

Sounds like a good logical strategy for me.
