There’s a lot of advice around local SEO especially when it comes to rankings and citations. What’s one mistake you think business owners should avoid?

They should focus on the reviews and if they are bad the business should focus on it and solve it to not get bad review in future aswell.Secondly they shouldn't leave thei business info half written in online platform as it makes the customer face difficulty while contacting them.

Honestly stuffing keywords into the GBP business name is a massive trap. Yeah it might give a quick ranking boost but you eventually get suspended and its a nightmare to recover from.

choosing the wrong primary category on your business profile is a silent killer tbh. if you mess that up, no amount of citations or reviews is gonna help you rank for the right terms.

Good question, for me it’s probably ignoring review management would be the biggest one, getting reviews is only half of it and most business owners never respond to them. Google weighs review velocity and owner responses as trust signals.

Piling on more citations before the basics are clean... same NAP everywhere, no duplicates, one real primary listing. A messy citation profile just gives Google more ways to get confused tbh.

many businesses focusing too much citations while ignoring their actual website and google business profile.

i think not keeping up with the google ranking policies, now its more intent based than solely relying on the SEO

neglecting review responses is the one that costs people the most, Google treats owner responses as an engagement signal and potential customers read them too.

Business owners should avoid using identical content across all citations. Instead, each citation should feature a fresh, unique description to improve relevance, engagement, and overall SEO value.

Investing heavily on reputation management while ignoring quality of products and services. If you offer a better service at a competitive price, users would be compelled to pick you. Everything else will fall in place.

One common mistake is focusing on getting as many citations as possible instead of keeping business information accurate and consistent everywhere. A few relevant, trustworthy citations are far more valuable than a pile of low-quality or outdated listings.

One local SEO mistake I see all the time is businesses having inconsistent information across their Google Business Profile and other online directories. Even small differences in their name, address, or phone number can hurt local visibility and confuse potential customers.

the discrepancy between GBP nd website information may be among those things that are easiest to ignore. Imo, the NAP, category, services nd business information should be consistent.
